Current Master's Thesis - Linköping
1. Master’s thesis in
Linköping reaches new
depths
The two students Adam Aili and Erik Ekelund
has started to build a small submarine at
Combines facility in Linköping. The goal is to
develop a model of it in Matlab/Simulink and
using it for designing a robust control system.
Combine have
purchased a small
ROV (Remotely
Operated underwater
Vehicle) and the goal
of the thesis work is to
develop a model of it
in Simulink, designing
a robust control
system with the use of
that model and
assembly the hardware
to test the design.
After successfully
completing their
courses at Linköping
Technical University,
Adam Aili and Erik
Ekelund was chosen to
perform their thesis at
Combine. The work
started in January and
it’s progressing rapidly.
- “It’s a fun and
rewarding master’s
thesis, since we get
to work with both
software and
hardware. It’s great
to create code from
scratch and be able to
show that its working
in simulation. But
even more fun that it
works as planned in
reality.”
Erik made a comparison
with the feeling Anakin
Skywalker must have had
when he built his podracer,
although he would like to
point out that “Star Wars:
The Phantom Menace” is a
bad movie.
The master’s thesis will be a
great way of showing
companies in the Linköping
region the benefits of model-
based development. The site
manager of Combine in
Linköping, Rikard
Bengtsson, is very pleased
with the spirit that the two
students are showing when
progressing their work.
The master’s thesis will be
presented in late May or
early June.
