2. WHAT IS ORAL HYGIENE?
Oral hygiene is the practice of keeping the mouth
and teeth clean to prevent Dental problems, most
commonly, dental cavities, gingivitis,
periodontal(GUM) Diseases and bad breath.
There are also Oral Pathologic conditions in which,
good oral hygiene is requires for healing and
regeneration of Oral tissues.
These conditions include Periodontitis and Dental
Trauma, such as subluxation, Oral cysts.
3. PURPOSE OF ORAL HYGIENE
To prevent the build-up of plaque, it irritates gums and can lead
to gum disease (periodontal disease) and tooth loss.
Tooth brushing and flossing remove plaque from teeth, and
antiseptic mouthwashes kill some of the bacteria that help form
plaque.
Fluoride in toothpaste, drinking water, or dental treatments also
helps to protect teeth by binding with enamel to make it stronger.
In addition to such daily oral care, regular visits to the dentist
promote oral health.
The dentist can also perform such diagnostic services as x-ray
imaging and oral cancer screening as well as such treatment
services as fillings, crowns, and bridges.

5. TOOTH PASTE

A small amount of toothpaste is applied to a toothbrush and
rubbed onto the teeth. The ingredients within the toothpaste help
