A large proportion of fish consumption accounts for fresh-frozen fish (56% of the total share of consumption), for fresh or chilled fish account 38%. The consumption of fish products in Russia is directly correlated with income of Russians. If the level of income does not to exceed 400 USD, consumers buy cheaper varieties of fish (cod, hake, pollock), with incomes up to 750 USD, the consumption is comprise of kinds of fish like mackerel and salmon. And with incomes of more than 1000 USD, the varieties of fish are bought from the higher price segment (sturgeon, salmon, oysters).
