A: 3rd Grade Class, 12 Girls,10 Boys
S: My class of 3rd grade students will know what a coral reef is, have a general idea of what
lives there, and comprehend some vocabulary words by watching a video, using the smart board,
and collaborating with other students on Facebook with100% accuracy.
S: Media that will be used is a video, Smart Board, and Facebook
U: When introducing each of these materials have clear expectations and directions.
Video:
1. Make sure it plays in classroom and audio is good
Facebook:
1. Students will need access to computers
Smart Board:
1. Calibrate before class
2. Check to make sure projection is accurate/viewable to all students
R:
Video:Show video about coral reef. Once over go back and review any new words that
were introduced. Ask students what they thought about the coral reef, and what did they learn.
Did the video not show anything they want to know?
Smart Board:Go through presentation and let students interact during the full
presentation using the board.
Facebook: I will post a video on the class page. Students are to watch it and write down
the eight “pop-up” facts and turn them into me. In addition to that they will leave a comment
telling what they thought was the most interesting thing they learned, and another comment
responding to another classmate.
2. E: Most evaluating on the coral reef will be covered in day 5 on the WebQuest. Though for
todays, questions after the video and what students comment after watching the Facebook video
will tell you what they learned and are interested in. During the Smart Board Presentation
students interaction will be a key in evaluation. After they watch the Facebook video go back
over the eight pop facts, and see if they can remember some. Review them until they can get
most of them on their own.
