WHAT IS ARTIFICIAL
INTELLIGENCE
 Artificial intelligence (AI) is the intelligence of
machines and the branch of computer science
that aims to create it.
 AI textbooks define the field as "the study and
design of intelligent agents" where an
intelligent agent is a system that perceives its
environment and takes actions that maximize its
chances of success

When access to digital computers became
possible in the middle 1950s, AI research
began to explore the possibility that
human intelligence could be reduced to
symbol manipulation.
•SEARCH AND OPTIMIZATION
Many problems in AI can be solved in
theory by intelligently searching
through many possible solutions.
Planning algorithms search through
trees of goals and subgoals,
attempting to find a path to a target
goal, a process called means-ends
analysis.
TOOLS
EARLY HISTORY
In 1950 English mathematician
Alan Turing wrote a landmark paper
titled “computing machine and
intelligence” that asked the question
:
“CAN MACHINES THINK ?”
Further work came out of a 1956
workshop at Dartmouth sponsored by
john McCarthy. In the proposal for that
workshop , he coined the Phrase “Study
of artificial intelligence”.
CURRENT STATUS OF A.I.
Al have taken many shapes
and forms over recent year.
Mobile phones (siri)
Video game characters
Gps/voice recognition
Robotics
Google has been a major play on
all transcendence and deep
learning.
Deep learning is a machine
learning based on algorithms.
FUTURE OF A.I
Beyond negotiation, moore says
CMU is betting several other AI
areas are going to be hugely
important in the near future.
Self driving cars’
Improved medical care and
treatment.
Open up doors to future
explorations.
Etc…..
CHALLENGES
Computing power
Tolerance power
Judging power
ADVANTAGES
• Artificial intelligence would
not need any sleep.
• Unemotional consideration
of problems.
• Easier copying.
DISADVANTAGE
• Limited Sensory input.
• An artificial mind is limited capable to
talk.
APPLICATIONS
• Gesture recognition
• Individual voice recognition
• Global voice recognition
• Robot navigation.
Conclusion
Artificial intelligence
and machine learning
are products of both
science and myth. The
idea that machines
could think and
perform tasks just as
humans do is thousands
of years old.
