Taking the liberty of paraphrasing, the synthesized definition would see cyberspace as a globally networked, computer-accessed and generated, multidimensional, artificial or abstracted “virtual” reality in a territory of digital information which provides for sensory, experiential, aesthetic and compositional capabilities.

This contradiction encapsulates the problematic possibility of creating a total educational infrastructure in virtual space, where the imperative is to achieve higher learning, yet at the same time provide all the institutional prerequisites that are expected of the university. Jones (1995, 1) emphasises that the virtual university needs to maintain comparative academic legitimacy in order to provide reassurance to both employers and the institutions of higher education. Information, as an object of desire, and existing information systems must conform to existing protocols to achieve legitimisation
  4. The 21st century is the current century of the Anno Domini era or the Common Era in accordance with the Gregorian calendar. The century began on January 1, 2001 and will end on December 31, 2100.[1][2][3] The years from 2001 to 2010 are historical; the years from 2011 to 2100 are subject to futurology and projections. As of now, ten years and ten months of the 21st century have passed.
