allows other programsto run. It is comprisedof systemsoftware,or the fundamental files
your computer needsto boot up and function.
Every desktopcomputer, tablet, and smartphone must have an operatingsystemthat

Here’s a breif look at the history of windows, fromits birth at the
hands of Bill Gates with windows 1 to the latest arrival of windows10 under
new microsoft chief executive officerSatyaNadella.
In 1975, Gates and Allen forma partnership called
Microsoft. Microsoft begins small, but has a huge vision—a
computer in every home. During the next years, Microsoft
begins to change the ways we work….

 In June 1980, Gates and Allen hire
runs the companynamed“MICROSOFT”.
Microsoft focuses on a newoperating
system—the software that runs the computer
hardware and also serves to bridge the gap betweenthe computer hardware andprograms, such
as a wordprocessor. Theyname of their newoperatingsystem"MS-DOS."
June 1981
The original windows 1 was
microsoft’s first true attempt at a
graphical user interface in 16-bit.
It requires:-
minimum of 256 KB, Programs:_
two floppydisk drives, Paint, windows writer,
graphics adaptercard Notepd, Calculater, calender, card file,a and
A hard diskof 512 KB memory clockto manage day-today.

Microsoft releases Windows 2 with
desktopicons and expandedmemory.
With improved graphicssupport,
and use keyboard shortcuts to
speed up yourwork. It is designed for the Intel 286 processor.
Control Panel makes its first appearance in Windows 2.

WINDOWS 3:-
 support for the Intel 386
processor, programs run
very faster. ProgramManager,
File Manager, andPrint Managerarrive in Windows3.
They sell 10 million copiesin their first two years, makingthis the
most widely used Windowsoperatingsystemyet.

WINDOWS 3.1:-
Windows3.1 required1 mb
of ramto run and allowed
supported MS-DOS programs
to be controlledwitha mouse
for the first time in windows3.1
It was also the first windows to be distributed on a CD-
ROM, althoughonce installedon a harddrive it only took up 10 to 15m(a
CD can typically store up to 700m)
WINDOWS 95:-
 It brought the first ever
start buttonand start menu.
Selling 7 millioncopies in the
First five weeks.
It is with a 386DX processor and at least 4 MB to 8 MB of RAM , the first
version of Internet Explorer is released.

WINDOWS 98:-
 . Windows98 is described
as an operatingsystem
that “WorksBetter, Plays
Better.”
It introduces the DVDdiscs , USB devices and USB mic in
windows 98.

WINDOWS 2000:-
 It was based on microsoft’s
business-orientedsystem,
including advancednetworking
and wirelessproducts, USB devices.
Microsoft’s automaticupdating playedan important role in windows 2000
and becamethe first windows to support hibernation

 It Introduced some
Important concepts
to consumers ,
including more Automated
systemrecovery tools.
windows mediaplayer 7 and windows movie maker all
made their appearance for the first time.

new visual interface.
windows 8.1 re-introduced the start button, which brought
up the Start screen fromthe desktop view of windows8.1. users could also
choose to boot directlyinto the desktop of Windows8.1

Windows 10 is familier and
easy to use, withlots of
similarities to windows 7
including the Start menu.
It starts up and resums fast, has more built-insecurity to help
keep safe. Microsoft introducedfree upgrade to windows 10. During the next
