Journalism Intern
Sophie Winter
Queensland University of Technology
“Being a journalist in the Inspire office has given me the perfect amount of
on-the-job training and industry experience that I was searching for. Creating
content for a viral news website and being able to see my articles published
online regularly is a rare opportunity that I feel very privileged to have been
given.
During my time at Inspire I have not only improved my researching, writing
and editing skills, but I have also learnt new skills in copy-writing; something I
did not cover at all in my University degree.
Working with such a positive and supportive team has been a wonderful
experience and I would highly recommend the internships at Inspire to
anybody wanting to build their portfolio and put their skills into practice in a
relaxed and friendly office environment.”

Social Media & Marketing Intern
Shannon Stone
“While being an intern at the Inspire group, I gained an abundance of hands
on experience that I hadn’t been exposed to while studying at uni.
During the internship I was able to develop an extensive sponsorship
package for potential advertisers, which only very few of the competition
in this sector currently had available. I was able to interact directly with
potential advertisers, and begin the process of gaining advertisers for the
brand. I also truly realised the powerful impact of social media across the
multiple platforms the project used. With this I was able to assist in rapidly
growing the social media following and in turn increase traffic back to the
main website.
Overall I was exposed to the new world internet culture which prior to
being an intern I wasn’t aware of the level of global dependence there is on
the internet and how entire companies are able to solely base their entire
substance on an industry that is often unpredictable and ever-changing.”

Media and Communications
Rachel McNamara
“My name is Rachael and I was an intern at Inspire for 12 weeks in semester 1, 2015. The reason I applied for an
internship at Inspire was to give me some direction towards my future career. Being in my last year of study at the
University of Queensland, completing a Bachelor of Communication/Arts, I realised it was now or never to gain
workplace experience at an established media company, and put the skills I had been learning at Uni into practice.
Inspire took me on as an advertising/marketing intern to contribute to their latest project, a viral news website. Seeing
the website develop and achieve success from the ground-up, makes me delighted to have been a part of the project
from the very beginning.
The internship has provided me with real-world skills that will benefit my career in the media; it has also given insight
into what it’s like working in a professional workplace. My main duties at Inspire included: brainstorming viral content,
researching advertising and promotional networks, setting up marketing campaigns, writing articles and sourcing images
& content for the website. As a student, about to graduate, this experience has made me confident in my own abilities
- so much so, that now the prospect of getting a job out there in the ‘big bad world’ appears less daunting and more
achievable.
The office at Inspire is such a fun and motivating environment to be in, with Spotify, bright wallpaper, and legions upon
legions of snacks dominating the landscape. The team at Inspire are extremely friendly and supportive, always going that
extra mile to help you make the most of the experience – I even got to attend a few marketing conferences to practice
networking with like-minded professionals. I have made some valuable friendships at Inspire and am still to this day in
contact with the team, who continue to take an interest and follow-up on how I’m progressing in my career.
As an ex-intern at Inspire, I highly recommend the internship program to anyone studying journalism, communication,
PR, marketing or advertising. It is an unparalleled experience that will benefit your future career and beyond!
Thank you Inspire!”

Digital Marketing Intern Central Queensland University
Kelly Bang
“It was a great opportunity for me to start my career with an internship at
Inspire Group. I was a marketing student with no experience and was nervous
about stepping into the “real world”. The internship experience at Inspire
Group encouraged me and gave me the strength to take the first step.
I have gained more experience than I could ever imagine throughout my
internship. Firstly, I developed digital marketing administration skills, which is
significant in the industry. Secondly, I was able to improve my communication
skills by interacting with clients and colleagues and lastly, Inspire Group gave
me the confidence and passion to drive me towards my future goals.
After finishing my Internship, Inspire Group offered me a full-time position
in database management. I am very thankful and proud to be part of the
energetic and positive team here at Inspire Digital.
All in all, I enjoyed my internship to the fullest!”

Graphic Design Intern
Ali Newbury
Griffith University
“Working at Inspire as a Graphic Design intern has been an invaluable experience, aiding the
progression of my career and skillset. It has been a great opportunity, and is sure to open
many doors for me in the future.
Throughout my time here, I have been lucky enough to work and collaborate with
the team on projects that I never would have been exposed to otherwise, especially in
a university setting. By working extensively in UI/UX design, speaking to print suppliers,
working on internal design projects, and interacting with clients directly, I have been able
to gain crucial real-world experience, which is extremely vital in order to find employment
in this industry. Interacting with colleagues on a day-to-day basis, my communication and
organisation skills have improved tenfold and I can now proudly declare myself as a team-
player! I have already been contacted with several interviews as a fresh-out-of-university
graduate student, and that’s due to my intensive industry experience and the work I’ve
produced here as a graphic design intern at Inspire.
Overall, I’ve been exposed to a wide range of projects that have given me the confidence
and drive to pursue my career in the design industry. I’ve really enjoyed my time here at
Inspire with such a friendly team!”
