Updated investment types and requirements
► Minimum investment of € 350,000 in Portuguese real estate and refurbishment
Until 31.12.2021 - Purchase of real estate in Portugal – with construction dating back more than 30 years or
located in urban regeneration areas – for refurbishment. | Purchase and renewal costs totaling a minimum of
€350,000. | Investors may benefit from a 20% reduction in case of investments made in regions with low
population density. | After 01.01.2022 – Investment in real estate for habitation use only qualifies if in
Azores, Madeira or inland territories.
OR
► Capital transfer of at least € 350,000 (until 31.12.2021) or € 500,000 (after 01.01.2022)
For investing in research activities conducted by public or private scientific institutions involved in the
national scientific or technologic system. | Investors may benefit from a 20% reduction in case of investments
made in regions with low population density.
► Minimum investment in Portuguese real estate of at least € 500,000

► Capital transfer of at least € 1,000,000 (until 31.12.2021) or € 1,500,000 (after 01.01.2022)

For investing in artistic output or supporting the arts for reconstruction or refurbishment of the national
heritage, through the local and central authorities, public institutions, public corporate sector, public

organizations, local associations and public cultural associations, pursuing activities of artistic output, and
reconstruction or maintenance of the national heritage. | Investors may benefit from a 20% reduction in case of

For purchasing units in investment funds or in venture capital funds incorporated under the Portuguese
legislation geared to capitalize enterprises whose investments have a maturity of at least five years, being that
at least 60% of it should be made in companies with head office in Portugal.
