EQUALITY RIGHTS: LOOKING BACK, LOOKING FORWARD – THE HART OF A JUST SOCIETY
● We are less than one week away from that time of year when we all gather together to celebrate once again
● In less than two weeks Canadian Civil Society will be introducing one of the hottest civil proceedings introducing an applicant,
Rosemary DeCaires, for this year's judicial review.
● In our review, we recall when those who gathered at University of Toronto Law School did so simply because we all believed in
'equality rights'.
● Today, as we gather online to celebrate the theme of 'equality rights' one word that effectively comes to mind is the theme of
'the heart of a Just Society'.
● So what is the essential meaning of equality rights discourse. In a civil society and what type of civil society allows barriers of a
systemic nature to reign
● Lets gather together this fall 2009 in the name of 'equality rights'. One will find that the heart of this civil society could essentially
mean ultimately greater happiness in a society that strives for the greatest happiness of us all
