2. Introduction The modern delivery of information and visual representations of American culture is derived from media outlets. Television news provide reports of current events and controversial issues. Television shows are reflections of the society and social norms in which we live. With the media providing much of the information provided to citizens, is there possibility of that media influencing the public opinion of current issues, such as gay marriage?
Though there is more exposure within this form of media outlet, it is not highly influential in formation of public opinion of gay marriage (Netzley, 2006).
The majority of Americans opinions regarding gay marriage are derived from social influence and generational social experiences (Hart-Brinson, 2010; Pratkanis, 2007).
