6. Prohibition of Alcohol
 Liquor dens were closed down.
 Alcohol was banned.
 Prohibition could come into force in a village if
25% of the women in the village demanded it.
 In the year 2009, amendment was made to the
Bombay Prohibition Act of 1949 to reflect this.

7. Grain Bank
 Objective: Food Security
 Initiated in 1980 in the temples of Ralegan
Siddhi.
 To overcome drought and crop failures.
 Those with surplus grains could donate a
quintal.

8. Watershed Development Programme
 Water intensive crops were banned.
Example: Sugarcane
 Cash crops were introduced.
Example: Pulses, Oil Seeds
 70 acres of irrigation land was converted into
2,500 acres land.

9. Milk Production
 Milk production being secondary occupation
was promoted in Ralegan Siddhi.
 Purchase of new cattle's was encouraged.
 Existing breeds were improved.

 In 1932: 1st single classroom school was built.

14. Jan Lokpal Bill Movement
 Anna Hazare began his indefinite fast on 5th
April 2011 at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.
 Demanded for a political chair and an activist
chair.
 Ended his fast on 9th April 2011.
 Gave a deadline of 15th August 2011 to pass
the bill .

15. Jan Lokpal Bill Movement
 A Joint Drafting Committee consist of five
nominee ministers of the Government of India
and five nominees of the civil society was
formed.
 Started his fast unto death on 20th August’11.
 Ended his fast on 28th August’11 after the
Lokpal Bill passed.

16. Right To Information
 On 20 July 2006 the Union Cabinet amended
the Right to Information Act 2005 to exclude
the file noting by the government officials from
its purview.
 Anna Hazare started his fast on 9 August 2006
in Alandi against the proposed amendment.
 He ended his fast on 19 August 2006, after the
government agreed to change its earlier
decision.

17. Why Anna Hazare did not join Aam Aadmi
Party?
 Because, Anna Hazare believes in Swaraj.
 In August, Hazare decided to remain non-
political and announced that he will be working
for ‘India Against Corruption.’
