IV. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing previous lesson or Presenting the new
lesson
The teacher will present a PowerPoint presentation showing the following:
The students will identify the cable type used to connect the presented devices.
B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson
“Let’s Plan”
Students will be grouped into five. With the prepared plan by the teacher, the students will
lay-out a network cable installation for this floor plan. Ask a member of each group to present
their output. (At the end of the activity it is expected that the students will use switch and 12
pieces of straight – through cable.)
Illustration A
Ask: What type of cable and devices will be used if you want to extend the network connection
from the Technical Support Department going to the other rooms or workplace areas?
Why did you choose these materials?
C. Presenting examples/instances of the lesson
“Spot the Difference”
The teacher will show the appropriate wire installation floor plan with the use of
modular I/O and patch panel.
Illustration B
Let the students compare their output with the showed appropriate wire installation floor
plan. Let them spot and list on the board the differences from the two illustrations (A & B).
D. Discussing new concepts and Practicing new skills
#1
“Think Positive”
Students are tasked to list the differences between the two
illustrations. Let them analyze the benefits of using modular I/O and patch
panel materials in extending network connection.
Patch Panel
-Modular I/O
-Modular I/O
Ask: What are the benefits of using modular I/O and patch panel materials in extending
network connection.
Say: Proper cabling and choosing the right materials/devices for networking eliminate risks
in a workplace area. Modular I/O and patch panel are great help to extend network
connections neatly.
E. Discussing new concepts and
Practicing new skills #2
The teacher will show the different tools used in producing network cable installation.
As a computer technician, which of these tools are appropriate to use in creating modular
I/O and patch panel connections? Give the function of each.
F. Developing mastery
( Leads to Formative Assessment 3)
A. Identify the tools used in producing network cables.
Tools Functions
1. Used to crimp RJ 45 connector to the cable wires
2. Used to crimp the cable wires into the patch panel or
modular I/O
3. Used to test network connections
4. Used to cut wires
5. Used to strip the sheath of the cable wire
B. Cite the benefits of using modular I/O and patch panel through the following:
1. Poem
2. Jingle
3. Poster
G. Finding Practical applications of
Concepts and skills in daily living
Through paper presentation, give your ideas with the given situation. Then post it on the wall.
Let the students have “Gallery Walk”.
“The librarian asks you to put network connection in the library coming from the computer
laboratory. What are the materials that you will ask her to prepare and what are the tools you
will provide to create such network connection?”
H. Making generalizations and Abstractions about the
lesson
How are modular I/O and patch panel connections useful in extending network connections to the
other rooms? How is proper selection of materials important in creating network connection and
proper cabling? (The teacher will prepare PowerPoint presentation to firm up the discussion of
the lesson.)
I. Evaluating learning
A. Make an organized network cable installation by means of installing or lay outing the modular
I/O and patch panel on the floor plan. Use the legend below.
B. Identify the tools needed and the number of modular I/O and patch panel to be used out of the
given floor plan.
Materials Tools

1) ___ pcs Modular I/O 6) ____________________
2) ___ pc(s) Patch Panel
B. Give at least two benefits of using modular I/O and patch panel.
J. Additional activities for application or

Journal. Reflect on the benefits of using modular I/O and patch panel with the proper usage of
tools in creating this kind of connections.

Reviewing previous lesson or Presenting the new lesson The teacher will present a PowerPoint presentation showing the following: The students will identify the cable type used to connect the presented devices. B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson “Let’s Plan” Students will be grouped into five. With the prepared plan by the teacher, the students will lay-out a network cable installation for this floor plan. Ask a member of each group to present their output. (At the end of the activity it is expected that the students will use switch and 12 pieces of straight – through cable.)
  • 3. Illustration A Ask: What type of cable and devices will be used if you want to extend the network connection from the Technical Support Department going to the other rooms or workplace areas? Why did you choose these materials? C. Presenting examples/instances of the lesson “Spot the Difference” The teacher will show the appropriate wire installation floor plan with the use of modular I/O and patch panel.
  • 4. Illustration B Let the students compare their output with the showed appropriate wire installation floor plan. Let them spot and list on the board the differences from the two illustrations (A & B). D.
