Talking about sexual assault is a very difficult
thing to do. Survivors of sexual violence need
support from family and friends during this
process. Be as supportive as you can be.
REMEMBER: It is NEVER the victim’s fault.
The ABUSER is to blame.

assault or harassment, one option is seeing a
trained counselor from the local rape crisis
center (Rape Victim Advocacy Program) or
talk to someone you trust-friend, family,
school counselor, teacher.

They have mostly been hanging out together
with their group of friends, but last Friday
night Samir told Caitlin that his parents were
out for the evening and he invited her over to
his house. Caitlin was looking forward to
spending time alone with Samir. She bought

they sat on the couch and started watching a

he had heard Caitlin’s previous boyfriend brag
about having sex with her. So he told her that
he thought she was more mature than that.

important to her. Then he kept trying to put his
hands under her shirt and then her skirt. Caitlin
felt embarrassed that he thought she was acting
immature, but she was not ready to have sex
with Samir yet. But she was also afraid of losing
him. She told him that she was scared and that
she wanted him to stop and she even started to
cry a little. Samir told her not to worry because
he loved her and would take care of her. Caitlin
froze; she was too afraid to move. Then Samir
forced her to have sex.
