The real keyboard history
1. Input Device History: Keyboards
The first keyboards weren’teven electronic. They were typewriters. Thefirst
commercial use typewriter was officially made in Italy in 1808. Itwas madeso
that blind people could type. After that came the firstCarbon Copy. Then, in 1829
a “Typowriter” was madeand it used dials to print characters instead of keys.
Now the keyboard that I’mgoing to talk about is the True-Touch Roll-up
Keyboard. It’s a pretty new keyboard sinceit’s a light blue colour and people think
light blue’s a cool colour. It was also apparently featured in Die Hard 4. “At under
$25 dollars it’s certainly the cheapest the keyboard on the list” (6 Interesting
keyboard designs) so I guess it’s a pretty cheap keyboard.
The keyboard is good for when you’retraveling becauseit can justfold up to fit
into your pocket. Also it’s apparently dust and moistureproof so that’s pretty
cool. It’s justa standard 104 key keyboard so; I guess meeting the standard is OK.
“Featuring 104 keys in a standard QWERTY layout, this could be the mostportable
full-sizekeyboard on the market. Simply roll the unit up when you’refinished and
put it in your bag! A great keyboard for laptop users who miss their full-sized KB
when on the move, or LAN party people wanting to travel lighter.
Featuring individual raised keys, the keyboard offers an amazing amount of tactile
feedback. Some of the wider keys such as the “Space’ and “Backspace” keys use
multiple sensors to improveaccuracy when typing. One thing that requires a bit
of getting used to is finding the center of the keys which is more important with
the roll-up keyboard than with normal ones. Overall, the portability of design and
noiseless typing during usemake this keyboard a serious contender.” (Keyboard
for mac) So, apparently it’s apparently good keyboard if you have nothing else but
only in your last resortwould someone useit. “As a general use keyboard, it could
have done better, but if you are the kind of person who replaces keyboards
regularly because of spilling coke, then this is for you.” (Review: Manhattan True-
Touch Roll-Up Keyboard (PC))
2. So in conclusion, the Manhattan True-Touch Roll-Up Keyboard isn’texactly great
but isn’t exactly terrible.
