Laurie Dummett
Laurie Dummett is an award winning consultant and trainer with over 25 years experience in
maintenance. He has worked across five continents, in a wide variety of environments from the
world’s largest oil refinery to smaller process industry companies.
Laurie has over 10 years of maintenance management experience in the process industry, so
brings a very practical approach to training. He moved into consulting with ABB Eutech as their
global maintenance specialist where he led maintenance best practice panels, delivered a wide range of maintenance
improvement projects and trained other consultants. Laurie was previously in the maintenance function with Crossfield
Chemicals and ICI plc.
Laurie developed a range of maintenance “models of excellence” with inputs from authors, international lecturers and some
of the world’s leading consultants and operators. This training course was created in collaboration with renowned shutdown
guru Tom Lenahan (author of 2 best practice books).
Laurie’s work in maintenance improvement has been recognised as best-in-class winning prestigious awards such as the UK

ADVANCED TURNAROUND, SHUTDOWN & OUTAGE MANAGEMENT
A 3 day training course derived from the Turnaround Model of Excellence developed by
practitioners that guarantee the reliability of your operations. The course six modules
develop and expand the basic ideas of the Model of excellence and introduce some new
concepts to further enhance performance. The aim of the course is to expand the knowledge
and give new insights on Turnaround Management to practitioners who already have a basic
knowledge of Turnarounds.

 A reprise of basic plant Turnaround – just like a refresher course
 The ability to fine tune the approach to Turnarounds
 A fundamental understanding of excellent Turnaround Team design

 Experience in the latest cutting edge approach to planning and scheduling
 Understanding of the “Centre of Excellence” concept to improve future performance.
About this world-class plant turnaround 3-day training course
Turnarounds are complex projects that have a substantial impact on business performance. It
is therefore imperative that the people who plan, prepare and execute Turnaround have an
the in-depth skill and knowledge necessary to produce a successful outcome and an
understanding of how Turnarounds work, why they sometimes don’t and what to do if they
start going wrong.
This complex, uncertain and at times unfamiliar undertaking can, and often does, overwhelm
the people involved and result in overrun of duration, overspend of budget or, even worse,
an unreliable plant. This course concentrates on how to organise the people who will do the
job and the level and quality of planning required to give not only the desired outcome but
value for money as well.
The purpose of the course is to use the Model of Excellence for Turnarounds and the principles
of Challenge Planning to equip attendees with an advanced approach to Turnaround
Management. The course will consist of direct teaching of principles, case studies of real
situations, free discussion of issues and workshops to give hands on experience of the
elements of Turnarounds.

Sessions commence at 9am on all days, with short intervals at 10.30am and 3.30pm respectively with light refreshment.

CANCELLATIONS & SUBSTITUTIONS
You may substitute delegates at any time. ASIA EDGE PTE LTD does not
provide refunds for cancellations. For cancellations received in writing
more than seven (7) days prior to the training course you will receive a
100% credit to be used at another ASIA EDGE PTE LTD training course for
up to one year from the date of issuance. For cancellations received
seven (7) days or less prior to an event (including day 7), no credits will
be issued. In the event that ASIA EDGE PTE LTD cancels an event,
delegate payments at the date of cancellation will be credited to a future
ASIA EDGE PTE LTD event. This credit will be available for up to one year
from the date of issuance. In the event that ASIA EDGE PTE LTD
postpones an event, delegate payments at the postponement date will
be credited towards the rescheduled date. If the delegate is unable to
attend the rescheduled event, the delegate will receive a 100% credit
representing payments made towards a future ASIA EDGE PTE LTD event.
This credit will be available for up to one year from the date of issuance.
No refunds will be available for cancellations or postponements.

of a substitution, alteration or cancellation/postponement of an event.
ASIA EDGE PTE LTD shall assume no liability whatsoever in the event this
training course is cancelled, rescheduled or postponed due to a
fortuitous event, Act of God, unforeseen occurrence or any other event
that renders performance of this training course impracticable or
impossible. For purposes of this clause, a fortuitous event shall include,
but not be limited to: war, fire, labor strike, extreme weather or other

About your Expert Trainer: Laurie Dummett is an award winning consultant and trainer with over 25 years experience in maintenance. He has worked across five continents, in a wide variety of environments from the world’s largest oil refinery to smaller process industry companies. Laurie has over 10 years of maintenance management experience in the process industry, so brings a very practical approach to training. He moved into consulting with ABB Eutech as their global maintenance specialist where he led maintenance best practice panels, delivered a wide range of maintenance improvement projects and trained other consultants. Laurie was previously in the maintenance function with Crossfield Chemicals and ICI plc. Laurie developed a range of maintenance “models of excellence” with inputs from authors, international lecturers and some of the world’s leading consultants and operators. This training course was created in collaboration with renowned shutdown guru Tom Lenahan (author of 2 best practice books). Laurie’s work in maintenance improvement has been recognised as best-in-class winning prestigious awards such as the UK Chemicals Industry Association national award for Excellence in Engineering.
