BioSharing Collections link
together a related set of
policies, databases and standards
which are relevant to a particular project or
Organisation
We house collections from working groups,
journals, NIH consortia and more
Like all our registries, Collections can be
searched/refined via our faceted search
tools
The products of this WG will be principles
for linking information about databases,
content standards and journal and funder
policies in the life sciences, and a
curated and prototype registry, to
access and cross-search the information
on which a variety of stakeholders can
base their decisions
To ensure a manageable project size and
delivery within the 18-month timeframe,
the WG will leverage the existing
BioSharing resource already embedded
into international infrastructure
programmes

A joint RDA and Force11 WG
Formally starting now/Fall 2015
2. Standards Databases Policies
Our Standards registry is
compiled from BioPortal,
MIBBI and the Equator Network,
along with user input
We host three types of standard:
• Terminology Artifacts (ontologies)
• Models and Formats (ML, TAB etc.)
• Reporting Guidelines (checklists etc.)
Standards can be filtered by Foundry
(OBO, MIBBI), domain, country,
consortium, funding agency and more
A catalogue of databases,
described according to the
BioDBcore guidelines along with the
standards used within them; partly
compiled with the support of Oxford
University Press and Re3Data.org
As with all entities in BioSharing, databases
can be claimed and curated by their
maintainers
Help BioSharing and its users by claiming
your database record and completing as
many fields as possible
A catalogue of data
preservation, management and
sharing policies from international
funding agencies, regulators and journals
Our policies registry, in collaboration with
JISC, is growing rapidly. Help us by
contributing and maintaining your policy in
BioSharing
How to add and claim a record
• Create an account and login (and link to
your ORCID)
• Select the type of record you want to
add (e.g. a policy record)
• Add data, link to your policy document
and submit for sanity-check review by
BioSharing engineers
• Claim the record and add contact
details
• Link the record to other records, or
create a Collection containing the
record
