The Problem
No cross-platform standard, missing features
As Khronos Group says:
“Without a cross-platform standard, XR games, applications, and devices must use each platform’s
proprietary APIs.
In turn, this means that each platform can only use the apps and devices that have been specifically
ported. The result is high development costs, industry fragmentation, and confused customers –
limiting market growth.”
• Too many operating systems, incompatible XR devices and vendor specific ecosystems
• Big sizes of packed (and also closed) applications
• Huge license/cost of platforms
• Not reusable and/or sustainable applications
No cross platform standard
Problems with existing technologies
Missing features
• Multiplayer mode
• Collaborative mode
• IoT support
• Security / Authentication / Authorization solutions
• Scalabality
• Task distribution

• Embeddable: Apertus is a set of embeddable libraries that can be integrated
into existing projects.
• Framework and Platform-independent: There is no need to integrate an
existing application into other frameworks. Apertus adds XR capabilities to any
product.
• Open Source: The open-source, MIT-licensed code-base grants full control of
the source code.
• Distributed: The configurable ecosystem prodives a wide variety of plugins for
different computation tasks, that can be distributed among the participants.
• Supports IoT: Apertus libraries and applications use Apertus Core which is an
abstract, distributed database to create ad-hoc networks and share (any kind
of) data across participants.
