In a world of ever increasing complexity, we give you a
single point of entry for all aspects of your power projects,
from design, power generation and transmission to
planning, execution, logistics and financing. This is why we
are named Semco Maritime Power Projects.
A partnership for success
Within Power Projects we believe in supplying an integrated
solution for your power project rather than equipment or
parts. That’s why we work with you to design the ideal
solution for your needs, from planning, financing and
design through to final completion.
We work with the finest equipment suppliers in the
industry to ensure you have access to best-in-class
technology for the entire project, not just the main
equipment. We coordinate all different suppliers to ensure
the project is executed on time, on budget – and at the
quality levels you demand.
Proven performance in the toughest environments
We’ve successfully executed power projects in the most
remote locations and hostile environments on the planet
- from El Salvador and Guatemala to Tanzania - and have
built power stations in the Indian Ocean, substations in
Greenland and wind farms in the North Sea.

Power Plants
At Semco Maritime Power Projects, we take pride in being
an independent provider of turnkey solutions to the power
industry. We supply plants for fossil fuels – including HFO,
marine diesel, bio-fuel, crude oil and coal – as well as
natural gas or landfill gasses.
We thoroughly analyse your needs at the start of the
project, before proposing solutions that will meet your
requirements and your budget. We also provide you free
choice of technology from technology partners that include
the world’s leading equipment suppliers.
Our expertise covers:
• Piston reciprocating engines
• Gas turbines
• Boilers and steam turbines
• Wind turbines
• Incinerators
• Solar power
• Hydro power
Hybrid solutions for greater sustainability
Due to the rising cost of fuel and increasing environmental
awareness, today’s power generation solutions must satisfy
ever-higher efficiency and sustainability requirements.
One solution is hybrid plants that use both conventional
fuels and sustainable energy sources such as wind, solar
and/or hydro power.
These multi-disciplinary solutions require a thorough
understanding of the technology available, as well as the
engineering and project management capabilities required
to put the pieces together.
At Semco Maritime Power Projects, we have all.

Isolated grid applications & renewables
Semco Maritime pioneered isolated grid applications on gas
and oil platforms in one of the harshest environments on
the planet: the North Sea. Our applications here can supply
rigs with more than 100 MW of installed electrical capacity
and we have demonstrated our expertise on individual wind
farms with a capacity of more than 400 MW.
Whether you are a cement plant or mining operation
requiring more than 100 MW of installed capacity, or a
utility or IPP in need of a remote smart grid fed by any
combination of thermal, solar, wind or small hydro power –
we can help deliver the right solution.
We even employ NATO security-cleared personnel to assist
NATO-allied organisations achieve stable power capacity at
short notice anywhere in the world.
In short, we can deliver the installed electrical capacity and
infrastructure you need anywhere in the world, on time and
on budget.
7
Fast-growing economies require an even faster-growing
supply of energy. This puts electrical grids under enormous
stress. Brown-outs and black-outs are therefore an ever-
increasing problem in many developing countries. Correctly
designed and engineered HV installations are essential to
securing an efficient and robust electrical grid.
Substations in any environment
At Semco Maritime Power Projects, we have more than 30
years of experience in transmission, distribution networks
and substations. We specialise in designing, engineering,
delivering, constructing and commissioning substations of
all kinds, and in all environmental conditions.
We’ve worked in some of the most unforgiving
environments on the planet. We delivered more than 40
percent of all the substations in the North Sea – including
offshore substations for wind farm projects up to 400
MVA – and our onshore HV substations projects include
installations up to 400 kV.
With a full team of seasoned engineers and IT specialists,
our expertise includes:
• Design, engineering, supply, installation, test &
commissioning of complete substations, cables and
overhead lines including upgrade and expansion of
existing HV and MV installations
• Control system, protection and interlocking including
RTU and SCADA configuration and integration work
• Network analysis, visualisation and planning conforming
to local grid codes
• Consultancy and advisory services including supervisors
and Project Management
Whatever the work, we always provide complete
documentation for all processes and work with appropriate
international documentation standards.
The best technology and design for tomorrow
At Semco Maritime Power Projects, we put your
requirements first. We’re not tied to a specific technology
or equipment supplier and our aim is to deliver the best
solution and value for money the industry has to offer.
We work with the latest technology to ensure you have a
reliable and robust solution that will meet your needs today
and in the future. We focus on flexible designs to ensure
your existing network has the control and stability required
to reduce brown-outs and black-outs.
This forward thinking delivers significant savings. We
concentrate on future-proof design and engineering to
deliver installations that ensure upgrades are seamless and
cost efficient.

Project finance
and development management
Project finance
If you’re not funding your next power project off your
balance sheet, our Project Finance Division can access the
most competitive debt and equity packages available in the
global marketplace.
We work with a network of international development
banks, local commercial banks, export credit agencies and
investors to provide both equity and long-term debt. This
helps you preserve your lending capacity, spread risk - and
undertake larger, more profitable projects.
We can also structure complex international projects and
help you manage risks through our international network.
Project development management
If your project isn’t yet ready to satisfy equity investors or
lenders, we can provide you with an experienced project
development manager to progress your project to a
bankable stage.
Our project development services include:
• Site ID and initial site reconnaissance reporting
• Pre-feasibility assessment reporting
• Permits, licenses and concessions
• Land and/or water rights acquisition
• Environmental & Social Cumulative Impact Assessment
• Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) negotiation and
documentation
• Feasibility reporting
• Finance planning
• Investment proposal formulation
9
Once your power project is complete, daily operation
and maintenance becomes the key factor for commercial
success.
With a Semco Maritime Operation & Maintenance (O&M)
contract, you can feel confident that your power installation
is running efficiently – and thus give your full attention to
your business. We also provide technical service support
to ensure everything continues to run smoothly and
maintenance costs are kept to a minimum.
As your partner, we concentrate on ensuring your plant
delivers low-cost and reliable power – maximising your
return on investment.
An O&M contract with us includes:
• O&M of your entire power plant intrastucture
• Highly trained O&M management and staff
• A thorough O&M planning system
