3. “learning is a persisting change in human performance or performance potential…[which] must come about as a result of the learner’s experience and interaction with the world” Driscoll (2000)
4. Traditional learning theories (behaviorism, cognitivism, and constructivism) need updating, in view of the present technological impact in learning and in social interactions, which have changed the knowledge transfer and the knowledge concepts.
5. Connectivism is a theory that considers learning as an interdisciplinary neural experience. The knowledge comes from the world around us in all kinds of shapes that change continuously and never end. Multitasking work skills and the ability to tell the essential from the assessory are mandatory. The future of learning is a spider web: connections are of the essence.
6. Nowadays, the important skill is not to have extensive knowledge, but the ability to get the information you need from a technological platform.
7. Nowadays the learning process is multi channel type and continuous. The knowledge does not come from standard locations alone, like school, but from a variety of locations, that are related to the technological environment of society, either in work related tasks, or in other activities. This process is continuous and never ending, following the technological state-of-the-art.
8. The definition of connectivism reports us to a concept of multifunction learning associated with the life time gathering of knowledge. It can be argued that it would be impossible to implement without transparency, and that it has been facilitating proneness for sharing information. Today, people share more information and see real benefits in doing so – transparency is easier in part due to connectivism. When it comes to field of online education, it comes in very handy that the students already/previously see the advantages of transparency and are used to it from the knowledge web of everyday “trading”, so that they can use it in the online education
