Project overview
loan to replace their existing lighting. The new lighting upgrade
offered students and staff a much brighter and whiter light
environment, conductive to learning and working.
The Salix solution
The Salix solution provided Perins School with a new energy
efficient lighting upgrade which helped them to significantly
reduce their annual energy costs. The upgrade was carried
out over the school holiday periods by local businesses.
Perins School calculated that the cost savings made as a result
of the work allowed the school to benefit from half a FTE
increase in teaching staff.
Project overview
Stafford Further Education College used a capital finance 100%
with a new energy efficient gas boiler and also install new
energy efficient lighting.

Kings College Hospital, London used a Salix
100% interest free, capital finance SEELS loan
of £96,327 to install a new state-of-the-art,
cost effective, LED lighting solution.
Project overview
The LED lighting upgrade, provided
Kings College Hospital, London with a five
year complete solution offering them an
immediate reduction in maintenance costs
and a 50% reduction in overall energy
consumption. Their £96,327 capital finance
loan project, paid back within 4.8 years,
allowing them to go onto benefit from
£20,170 in annual energy cost savings.
The Salix solution
Bristol City Council used Salix funding to
deliver an energy efficient, white light, street
lighting upgrade, which saved them over
£500,000 on their annual energy costs.
Bristol City Council had already benefited
from the Salix Recycling Fund and used this

£2,170,000 to replace their ageing boiler
with a new, large scale, state-of-the-art,
1.6kWe CHP engine installation.
Project overview
The Salix solution provided The University of
Bradford with a quick and relatively low risk
way of financing a large scale CHP installation
and significantly contributing to their carbon
management plan to help them achieve a 50%
reduction in carbon emission targets by 2020.
Their £2,170,000 capital finance loan project,
paid back within 4.3 years, allowing them to
go onto benefit from £498,058 in annual
energy cost savings.
