In this presentation, we review how to add multiple camera sources to the NewTek Connect Pro App. This app allows users to connect IP sources, USB cameras, Capture Cards and NDI cameras into the NewTek Connect Pro App. The application is now included for Free with the PTZ Producer Kits from PTZOptics.
This application is perfect for viewing cameras and includes a web-server. The system integrates seamlessly with NDI compatible live streaming systems such as vMix, Wirecast, NewTek Tricasters, Livestream and more. The standard is also cross-compatible with ASPEN and SMPTE 2022.
1. How to Add Cameras to the
NewTek™ Connect App
NDI™ is a trademark owned by NewTek™ Inc. Presentation by PTZOptics
2. About the NewTek Connect Pro App
The NewTek Connect Pro App is a
Windows based application used to
encode, transmit and receive high
quality, low-latency video & audio over
IP.
This application makes regular video
sources available to NDI compatible
systems.
3. What is NDI?
In a nutshell, NewTek’s Network Device
Interface (NDI) technology is a new open
standard for live production IP workflows over
Ethernet networks. NDI allows systems and
devices to identify and communicate with each
other, and to encode, transmit, and receive high
quality, low latency, frame-accurate video and
audio over IP in real time.
4. Adding Cameras / Video Sources
1. USB Connection to
Computer
2. Capture Card Device for
HDMI or HD-SDI
3. IP Stream
4. NDI Source
We are going to add four different types
of camera sources to the NewTek
Connect Pro App in the following
demonstration video.
5. Adding a USB Camera
PTZOptics has two USB broadcast
camera models. The 12X-USB and the
20X-USB. These camera can be made NDI
ready instantly by connecting them to the
NewTek Connect Pro App
USB 3.0
6. Adding an HD-SDI or HDMI Camera
Every PTZOptics camera has HDMI and
the 12X-SDI and 20X-SDI models feature
HD-SDI. These camera can be made NDI
ready with a capture card connected to
the NewTek Connect Pro App.

7. Adding an IP Camera
Every PTZOptics camera has a network
port which can be used for live streaming
audio and video. PTZOptics cameras can
be added as a network IP streaming port
can configured with the
Network
Connection
8. NewTek Connect Source Manager
The NewTek Connect Pro app includes an
IP source manager. This manager allows
users to connect PTZOptics IP streams to
the NewTek Connect Pro App and turn
camera NDI.

Connection
9. Configure a PTZOptics Camera
To configure the camera simply open the
NewTek Source Manager and select “Add
Camera”. From the drop down menu
select “PTZOptics Camera”. You can
enter a name, memo, IP address, port
number and username/password.

12. What is the
NewTek NDI™?
Complete access,
control, and
creativity over IP.
Release your video productions from the
technical and physical limitations of standard
broadcast infrastructures. Easily transition to
video over IP with NDI, NewTek’s innovative
Network Device Interface technology, and
ready-to-use software enabling interconnected
production workflows.
13. Introduction
What does this mean for NewTek and
the popular TriCasters?
What does this mean for PTZOptics?
The NewTek ™ NDI (Network Device Interface) is an IP industry
standard for sending and receiving ultra low latency, high definition
video and audio sources for live broadcasts. The NewTek NDI is a
royalty free standard anyone can implement to connect video
equipment across a network. Your production switcher, capture
system, media server—any NDI-enabled device on the network—can
see and access content from all other devices, allowing more sources
than ever before to be used for live production. The protocol has been
pioneered by Dr. Andrew Cross, NewTek’s president and CTO
PTZOptics does have plans to integrate with the NewTek NDI directly
into a camera model in the future. Currently NDI functionality with
PTZOptics uses the NewTek Connect Pro Application which is
included with the PTZ Producer Kits.
14. Integration
Opportunities
Did you know?
Over 82 different vendors
demonstrated NDI compatible
products at the 2017 NAB Show.
NDI-enabled devices and applications are already in the hands of
millions of customers and continue to generate tremendous industry
momentum since its introduction at IBC last year. “
NDI works with applications from almost every major vendor and
virtually every I/O card on the market. There is no doubt that this move
to IP-based production is fundamentally transforming our industry.” —
Dr. Andrew Cross, NewTek’s president and CTO
