Snowshoe Hare Technician January 2013 – April 2013

• Run transects to determine presence/absence of snowshoe hare as well as several predator species.
• Requires identification of all wildlife species’ tracks in the snow.
• Conduct vegetation sampling using a robel pole to determine vegetative requirements of snowshoe
hare.
• Position requires hiking long distances in strenuous winter conditions.
• Requires the ability to back up a trailer and operate state owned vehicles and ATV’s.
• Responsible for managing the 2014 field season. Additional duties include preparation for field work,
supervising an undergraduate technician, and management of university funds.

regeneration patterns in wildfire stands of northern lower Michigan.

Vegetation Simulator), Sigmaplot, ArcGIS, and Microsoft Excel.
• Assisted PhD project by identifying and separating aquatic macroinvertebrates.

• Primary work focused on removal of invasive plant species within multiple sites located along the
Lake Michigan shoreline in the Northwest Lower Peninsula of Michigan .
• Worked in cooperation with the National Park Service, The Grand Traverse Regional Land
Conservancy, The Leelanau Conservancy, volunteers, and other Nature Conservancy employees.
• Executed land management strategies for effective invasive species removal.
• Performed various other activities such as tree girdling, backpacking, hiking, and operation of
company vehicles.
