States. The Appalachian Trail is the
longest hiking only trail in the world.
Created in 1876 to explore and preserve
the White Mountains in New
Hampshire.
The Appalachian Trail and AMC clubs
span 2,200 miles and 14 states from
Maine to Georgia.
More than 2 million take a hike on part
of the trail at least once each year.
