Kingfisher owes Bharat Petroleum Rs 245 crore Kingfisher Airlines owes Rs 245 crore to Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL) on account of buying Aviation Turbine fuel (ATF), (As per BPCL's Chairman and Managing Director S Radhakrishnan) Though BPCL stopped credit and started cash-and-carry mode for Kingfisher, the airline is now not buying from BPCL BPCL has opened ATF outlets at seven more airports in the country and as of now has a presence in 30 airports in the country. BPCL's in and out retail formats started making profits and its total turnover has reached Rs 350 crore, he said.

4. Direct tax code The Government deferred the direct tax code(DTC) by yet another year to April 2012 causing yet another disappointment to the taxpayers. Women taxpayers suffered a bolt as the preferential treatment meted out to them earlier is now proposed to be withdrawn. Senior citizens, however, enjoy a higher exemption limit. The bill that replaces the Income Tax Act 1961 seeks an increase in exemption threshold of individuals from Rs.1.6 lakh currently to Rs.2lakh. The corporate taxes will be reduced to a flat 30%.

5. Tata Motors to launch Aria within a month, may price it Rs 10 lakh Tata Motors will launch Aria a cross-over between a multi-utility and sports utility vehicle within a month. Unveiled at the Auto Expo and billed as a four-wheeler built for Indians by Indian engineers, Aria will compete with Toyota Innova and M&M's Xylo. Sources say that the car is expected to be priced at about Rs 10 lakh.

Emami settles dispute over Zandu Balm song; to use for ads Emami Ltd, the owner of Zandu Balm, said its copryright infringement dispute with the production company of Salman Khan starer 'Dabangg' has been amicably settled between the two parties. (As per Emami, Director Mohan Goenka) Subsequently, the company will be using the chartbuster 'MunniBadnaam' for its promotional campaigns, while it is still in talks over using MalaikaArora Khan, who did the item number in the film, as the brand ambassador for Zandu Balm.

7. Blackberry controversy Research in Motion (RIM), the maker of Blackberry has finally surrendered to Indian security agencies’ demand for access to their server. The security agencies already had access to voice data, SMS and general emails sent through Blackberry devices but Blackberry email and messaging services that are highly encrypted were major concerns for the security agencies. With this understanding in place the government has decided to serve notices to Google and Skype also to fall in line.
