Synopsis of Idea
(content, narrative,
genre)
I am going to produce a variety of different photographs as my final
major project because I like taking and editing my own photographs,
it interests me and I like going to different places to take the images.
For my previous tasks I have produced a music video, TV Advert and
an E4 Sting, I enjoyed producing and planning these but I wanted to
do something different.
The genre/theme of my photographs is going to be fantasy/Horror,
instead of copying other photographers I wanted to change the
fantasy photographs into horror, I have chosen to keep my ideas
based on ‘horror Alice in Wonderland’. I like the idea of editing my
photographs in a horror way and maybe also doing the make up on
my models. I want my audience to feel like part of my photographs
and find them interesting.
I have been influenced to do this by a variety of different famous
photographers such as ‘Ami Barwell’ who is a music photographer
even though her type of photographs are completely different I like
how she edits her photographs and makes them dark. Another
photographer is Kristy Mitchell who takes ‘amazing’ fantasy
photographs, I like how she edits her photographs and also the
clothes and makeup of the models, she uses a variety of different
atmospheres and had some good ideas. I am planning on using some
of Kristy’s ideas but changing them to horror fantasy.
Target Audience?
The target audience will be aimed at teenagers and above
(demographic NOT
specifically, both female and male and isn’t any specific age group.
age range)
Young girls who are interested in weird make up may even be
interested in some of my photographs. I think majority of my target
audience will be people who find photography, fantasy and horror
interesting.
Target Audience
My target audience would want to know what the photograph is

actually about so I will have to make it obvious. I will make my
photographs look like fantasy by the make up/ clothes and editing, I
will also have to make sure it’s obvious that horror is mixed in with
the fantasy theme.
How will your project I am going to make sure my photographs are related to Alice in
meet the needs of
Wonderland as much as I can even though I am changing the theme
your target audience? of it. I will also capture and edit my photographs in a professional

way. I am also going to choose good models that have good posture

professional. My photographs will be edited in a professional way my

target audience wouldn’t want to see photographs that didn’t look
professional.
I am also going to challenge myself and try to interest people who
are not interested in photography. I am going to do this by making
my photographs different and eye catching, instead of just relying on
editing to make them look good I am going to get interesting
costumes and make up for the models. I am going to try and get

teenage girls/young girls interested in my photographs by doing this.
Even though I will need my photographs to look like they’re fantasy I
am going to make them look realistic within certain parts of my
photographs, because they’re also going to have a horror
theme/genre. For example I will be using fake blood instead of
editing the blood into the photograph on Photoshop and I will also
use weapons that are used in horror films (knives, axes, chainsaw and
etc…) because I think this will help make my photographs look better.
There are three type of production, pre-production, production, and
post-Production. In pre-production, I will be doing something like a
storyboard to show in what order I will be taking each photograph
and I will be producing a schedule and call sheets. This will help me
what I will be doing while I’m out taking my photographs, it will tell
me where I need to be and it shows that I am organised. In
production I will be going out and taking my photographs in different
settings/ locations.I am sticking the Alice in Wonderland theme as
much as I can. I am going to take my photographs at woods/fields
because majority of the Alice in wonderland photographs I have seen
have been in these types of locations. Also a lot of horror films are
based in the woods, so I think it’s a really good setting for my ideas.
I will have to take a variety of different photographs of each shot
from different angles and using different techniques so I have a
variety of images to edit from and can choose the most professional
images. Some of the angles I am going to use are close-ups to show
emotion, Long-shots, Medium shots, Birds-eye view when Alice has
fallen down the rabbit hole and has the cards scattered around her
and etc... There is a variety of techniques that can be used in
photography, some of the techniques I am going to focus on are
surrealism, tilt shift photography, leading lines, Depth of field and
many more.During post- Production I will be using Photoshop to edit
my photographs in a professional way, this is important because I will
have to make sure I don’t ‘over edit’ any photographs and I will have
to use Photoshop to make certain parts of my photo’s more
interesting. When editing my photographs I am going to turn some of
them black and white, and then make sure the lighting and contrast
of the images are how I want them. I am also going to edit my
photographs in a variety of different ways, I’m going to try and turn
one of my photographs into a silhouette I will do this by adding
colourful light to it as if the light source is located behind the object. I
am going to edit most of my photographs based on a dark art picture
style and fantasy art because these will go well with my ideas. I am
going to be focusing on the lighting and darkness of my photographs
when editing because I am mixing two completely different
themes/genres (horror is usually dark lighting and fantasy is light
lighting majority of the time.)
