Digital India is an Initiative by the Government of India to
ensure that Government services are made available to
citizens Electronically by improving Online Infrastructure
and by increasing Internet connectivity

The Digital India programme is a flagship programme of the
Government of India with a vision to transform India into a
digitally empowered society and knowledge economy.
The journey of e-Governance initiatives in India took a broader dimension in mid 90s for wider
sectoral applications with emphasis on citizen-centric services.
Government of India launched National e-Governance Plan (NeGP) in 2006.
31 Mission Mode Projects covering various domains were initiated. Despite the successful
implementation of many e-Governance projects across the country, e-Governance as a whole has not
been able to make the desired impact and fulfil all its objectives.
In order to transform the entire ecosystem of public services through the use of information
technology, the Government of India has launched the Digital India programme with the vision to
transform India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy.

The vision of Digital India programme is to transform India into a digitally empowered society
and knowledge economy.
The Digital India programme is centred on three key vision areas:
Providing high-speed internet, mobile phone and bank
account enabling participation in digital & financial space;
shareable private space on a public cloud, and creating a
safe and secure cyber space.
• Seamless integration across departments/jurisdictions
• Ensuring availability of services in real time from online
and mobile platforms for ease of doing business,
leveraging geographical information systems (GIS) etc.
• Take digital literacy to the next level
• Providing digital resources in Indian languages, citizens
not required to submit physical documents, etc.

 Sreenath K, a coolie who cleared the written test of the Kerala
Public Service Commission
 The preparation is just with his phone and earphones as he goes
to his job.
 Sreenath has been earning his livelihood carrying heavy luggage
at Ernakulum Junction in Kerala for the past five years.

Campaigns can be easily customized and made more targeted
As the world is more dependent on the internet, it helps the business to reach out and
connect with the people on a larger scale.
Saves a lot of money as compared to the traditional way as it is cheaper and efficient
A challenge to reach the population which is still not using the internet
Keeping pace with new trends and technology
Need of deep understanding of changing human behavior and
requirements.
Damage control of bad reviews or complaints on social media or digital
platform is a huge task and can even lead to the closing of PLATFORM.
Data Analysis is still a very big concern and very few people are
professional in it as not many are able to understand what data actually
says.

If the digital marketing comes everywhere in a full-fledged manner it will help the country
itself to become digital that means major chunk of our population will start leading a life
which will be smarter and faster.
All the operation from railways, municipal organization etc. will become faster and
smoother
Storing of valuable and confidential data of the government organizations will be easy and
secured.

 Digital India Program initiated by Government of India is the
leading initiative Which will surely eliminate the Digital Divide of
the country .
 The Digital India initiative of the Government of India can be
successfully implemented with the proactive approach and practical
approach of the farmers, NGO’s and Government authorities
working together.
 Apart from creating a well-designed web portal, accessibility of
technology and resourceful personnel always should be the
criteria for the successful implementation of Digital India Program.
 Various projects of Digital India are still under implementation
phase. Some of the projects may require minute changes in future
depending upon the nation’s requirement.

  • 6. The Digital India programme is a flagship programme of the Government of India with a vision to transform India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy. The journey of e-Governance initiatives in India took a broader dimension in mid 90s for wider sectoral applications with emphasis on citizen-centric services. Government of India launched National e-Governance Plan (NeGP) in 2006. 31 Mission Mode Projects covering various domains were initiated. Despite the successful implementation of many e-Governance projects across the country, e-Governance as a whole has not been able to make the desired impact and fulfil all its objectives. In order to transform the entire ecosystem of public services through the use of information technology, the Government of India has launched the Digital India programme with the vision to transform India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy.

Some of the projects may require minute changes in future depending upon the nation’s requirement.
