1. Case Study 8: Lower Moderate Disability
The patient is independent, can take care of
himself and go out alone. He therefore is not
in the SEVERE DISABILITY category. He
has not resumed his studies, which means a
GOS rating of MODERATE DISABILITY.
C. Upper Moderate:
Work capacity: Reduced
Social activities: Resumed less than half as often
as pre-injury
Disruption or Strain: Frequent (once a week or
more but tolerable)
2. Case Study 8: Lower Moderate Disability
D. Lower Moderate:
Work capacity: Unable to work or
only able to work in sheltered workshop
Social activities: Unable or rarely to
participate
Disruption or Strain: Constant (daily and
intolerable)
He is not able to study, even at a reduced level. This
would make the rating Lower Moderate on the GOS-E.
3. Case Study 8: Lower Moderate Disability
Additional Considerations:
For a student the occupational status is
evaluated through asking about the ability to
take up studies again
If that is not possible or if a much easier
program is chosen that would lead to a rating of
MODERATE DISABILITY
