Lifestyle Entrepreneur
So you want be the "big dog" the one "calling the shots", you want your own
business but not sure where or how to begin,
Don’t worry, you’re not alone!
Fact is,
Since the advent of the digital economy, more people in employment or looking
to get in, have found that their “dream job” well, doesn't completely exist – a few
many variables, on the other hand exist; others have concluded that they would
rather create a lifestyle business/work they love, in-line with their own life goals.
No matter what the motivation is to be your own boss,
you can start today.
Lifestyle Entrepreneur
Take a moment, look at the past and the present.
If your disappointed with your current circumstances ?
Admit that no one can solve them, except you!
We all make mistakes in life’s-journey and if you’re a decision-maker in
your field of expertises or business, your very familiar with the outcomes’ of
-bad decisions or choices -
choosing a new business strategy or new employee;
it’s no good to blame the economy, your boss or business partner, your
spouse or your family. Change can only occur when you take a resolute
decision, to be accountable, be honest with yourself and move forward.
Lifestyle Entrepreneur
If you’re evaluating your business or idea and wish to engage a friend or
partner about it, explore it!
Be open minded and expect a degree of critique.
Be willing to look at different facets of yourself (your personality, social
styles, age) and trust your sixth-sense.
We tend to ignore intuition even though deep down we often know the
truth.
Ask yourself “Why does visions/thoughts of my idea or business run like
clock-work”
Lifestyle Entrepreneur
The areas to this entrepreneurship journey:
 Do What You Know: Look at work you have done for others in the past
and think about how you could package those skills and offer them as
your own services or products. For instance while I was out of contract
with a previous employer for some weeks, I decided to work with a
charity organisation and built a client-server infrastructure (IT from
scratch) in conjunction with building their website (web-presence) and
designed flyers and developed animations for the kids (computer
graphics).
 Do What Others Do: Learn about other businesses of interest near you.
Once you have identified a business you like, emulate it!
If your expertise is a life-guard, look for business with the mindset to
emulate what they do, “to educate and to save lives”.
 Be a Problem Solver: Is there a gap in the market? This is almost a follow
up from above. Is there a service or product you would like to bring to
your market? Become a learned student of your skill/market, particular
gap and use the knowledge and wisdom to apply it, as always, speaking
to leaders within your market is not going to taking anything away from
you.
Lifestyle Entrepreneur
A true axiom..
“Wisdom is in the heart of him that has understanding”,
here lies a principle most successful entrepreneurs and business professionals implicitly
or explicitly follow.
You understand your idea and how the business works, just like you most people out
there do too, but what makes you a stand-out success is the application of wisdom “the
mechanics of your understanding”, most people don’t plan (Blueprint for success), but
you will, this business plan helps you gain clarity, focus and confidence.
Your plan does not need to be complex, the more complex it is, the less you understand
and you may overwhelm yourself and potential investors.
As you write down your goals, strategies and action steps, your business becomes real.
Think about:
 What is the purpose of this blueprint ?
 What am I creating/developing and why?
 What pledges are to my customers/clients and to myself?
 What are my objectives, strategies and action plans (steps) to achieve my goals?
 Who am I serving?
Lifestyle Entrepreneur
How much your willing to invest in your business is almost proportional to
how much people love your service or product.
Consider brands like Coca Cola, Mercedes Benz or Rolex’, people will spend
that extra dollars on these brands because the quality, time, money and detail
placed to develop these brands speaks for its self. A customer decision to
buy any of these products over others is will have the above ‘core-values’ in
mind.
So ask yourself this question:
 If I invest in my business, 1 hour each day/night, how long will it take to
see the end-product or the service –value ?
 If I invest $500 to my business, will the value of the product or service
match the price or $500 input ?
You know the answer’s, typically: (1) may take months if, not years to deliver,
and (2) It depends on the product or service, and your competitors value, so if
it was competing with, Rolex’, you may consider another target market within
your reach.
The above questions are not exhaustive. Be creative, authenticate your
market, i.e. Know who will buy into your product or service other than, you,
family and friends? What is the size of your target market? Is your product or
service relevant to their everyday life? Why do they need it?
Lifestyle Entrepreneur
Were all are eager to get going, and believe we can spend big. But having a
detailed understanding of your personal finances, and tracking it, is a
crucial step before seeking funding for your business.
Setting up your personal accounts in a money management system such or
with your Bank manager or accountant is recommended. As you are creating
your business plan, you will need to consider what type of business you are
building, a lifestyle business, a franchise, or a high-tech business.
Whichever the venture, you will need a different amount of money to launch
and grow your business, always good to know what type of money, the
interest, when you start to payback and how long for.

You've established that you’re keen to make your business work. Look for
networks of like-minded individuals, supporters, partners, allies and
vendors.
Network locally, nationally & globally, use forums and social networks. You
must not do it alone, you will need someone to help push you when the
momentum gets a go-slow. Go to business conventions and momentums,
webinars, Entrepreneur.com etc.
Some networking essentials:
 Ask others what they do and think about how you can help them (keep
in mind they are also looking for the same things as you are)
 Be open minded and objective, give freely and a generous professional,
help others and consult without charging them, you can expect the same
from them in return.
Lifestyle Entrepreneur
It is estimated, over 500 products in 4 hours are being advertised to us a day,
this can be overwhelming so, people don’t want to be “sold” and people are not
unintelligent, they are just like you and I.
Focus on serving others. It’s difficult for many sales professionals but the truth
is, if I want your product I want to know it will be good for me, and I will want to
try it out for a reasonable price (or for nothing), this is a hard-sell, so meet your
audience at a point of mutual agreement, confident of the value of your
product/service. The more people you serve, the more money you will make.
Lifestyle Entrepreneur
Technologies such as YouTube and Facebook has made it easy to get ahead,
