IT WAS DISCOVERED BY
THE AUTHORITIES IN

BROKEN BANGLES, MOSAIC
TILES, METAL WIRES,
AND SLAG
OVER AN AREA OF 40 ACRES
AND IS BUILT ENTIRELY OF
DOMESTIC AND INDUSTRIAL
WASTE AND ITEMS THAT
PEOPLE HAVE DISCARDED AS
USELESS. ELECTRICAL
WASTE, BOTTLES,
Purpose – Garden was built to recycle the city waste which resulted
into a masterpiece.

Situated in the thick forest area,
this gardens hold its own charms
for the visitors. It is full of objects
built from household and
industrial waste. There are no
flowers or plants in this garden.
Site is cleared from trees and some existing
trees can be seen in the premises

AMPHITHEATRE
Established in the form of an open-air
exhibition hall, theatre and a miniature
maze.
Moreover, several important
performances have taken place in this
small but very artistic theatre.
Broken paving blocks and tiles are laid and
created steps for sittings

9. SCULPTURES FEATURES
Hundreds of sculptures of dancers, musicians,
ordinary men and women going about their
chores, animals, and birds.
All the figures were made from recycled waste
which included broken ceramic crockery,
broken bangles, mosaic tiles, and slag.
From clay to auto parts which have aided in
creating a world of palaces, soldiers, monkeys,
village life, women and temples

• Western part of site boundary consists of hilly
terrain and some part of garden is located on
hill.
• Resulting into construction retaining walls.
• Retaining walls were decorated with small
structures and a source of water is released
from them
• This all resulted into all year artificial water falls
• Water coming down was carried in canal which
is also created as an aspect and DESIGN FEATURE

Water canals are created to outflow the water
coming from artificial water falls.
Also considered as an aesthetic aspect of design
and landscape
Cool and calm water in canals create a soothing
ambience .
12. Chandigarh rock garden is an epitome of
creativity and innovation. It is a unique
garden that consists of various art
objects.
But the best part about the rock garden
is that each of its artwork has been
made by using industrial & urban waste.
The credit goes to ITS CREATOR NEK
CHAND, who was the then Road
Inspector in the Engineering Department
of Chandigarh Capital Project.
