This document provides a weekly summary of a student's progress on their production project over 5 weeks. In week 1, the student practiced using camera, tripod, and sound equipment and began developing initial project ideas. In week 2, the student researched technology's role in everyday life and camera techniques for their futuristic thriller concept. In weeks 3 and 4, the student completed pre-production, including storyboards, permits, and began filming. In week 5, the student edited their short film and added sound effects to convey the desired thriller atmosphere.
2. This proforma is to record how you worked on your production
You should complete this each week during production
Consider all relevant areas that you covered that week
Think about what worked/what didn’t work/how you can improve
and actions for the following sessions/weeks
3. For week 1, we began practicing using
equipment. We had to get in groups of 3
and practice using a camera and tripod,
to make a 60 second short film which
involved a key and a door. I also
practiced with the sound recorder to
create our own sound effects and get
used to using it for our final idea. I got to
practice using the camera and learning
about the different shots and angels. I
got good at using medium and close up
shots, which I will be using a lot in my
short film. We then began with our initial
plans and made a powerpoint on ideas
and thoughts we had for our project
concept. I did a mind map to begin
thinking of ideas and watched some
other short films that were provided for
us on blackboard for inspiration.
4. For week 2, we began our research and
proposal. I did research on technology on the
pro- forma in our every day lives and
interviews on the use of technology and what
it would be like without it. I also did research
on camera angles and the techniques that will
help me portray my idea the best I can. I
decided that I wanted my short film to be a
futuristic thriller, and wrote my proposal
explaining why I want to have this concept
and how I will portray it. At this point I new
what I wanted to produce for my short film
and started developing this idea and ways of
how I could produce it. I am really happy with
my concept and the development of my ideas.
6. This week we started working on our pre-production. I had my
finalised idea in my head and began working on a story board and
the different shots I will use and mapping out the time scale of how
it will pan out. The pre production power point was quite a long
slide and involved a lot of forms like contigency, risk assessment,
call sheets, permission form as well as location and cast
information. This slide took me a few days to complete as there
was a lot of different slides that included quite a bit of detail.

9. For week 4,I finished off my pre-production and began my
production of creating my short film. To do this I started filming on
Thursday the 15th. I got all my footage for what I need to start
editing and putting my film together. I filmed at home and had no
complications with my this. I got to take the equipment home that
id been practicing with in week , so I knew what to do and how to
use it correctly.
10. For week 5, I began editing my short film and adding sound effects.
The editing is a draw out process over the week as I want to make it
as professional as possible and give off the thriller effect as accurate
as possible. I’ve had to do quite a bit of editing with my clips and
putting them together to make sure the audience know and
understand what is going on in the film. I also had to insure my
sound effects are in the right places and portray the right effect and
atmosphere. I also finished off embedding my power points onto my
blogger and finishing off any things I forgot to do or could have
improved.
