Research
 When I started my initial plans I was either going to do a gaming
magazine, YouTube magazine or music magazine. I chose the
gaming magazine as I enjoy playing games however I didn’t
really know what to do on the magazine so I made some ideas
on what I could do an article about such as a review of the best
games of 2018 or have an interview with a game company. I
also had a look at what a typical gaming magazine and any
magazine looked like in general as I wanted to have the same
layout as the magazines but put my own twist onto my
magazine. In research I found 3 magazines from different years
and throughout the years they hadn’t changed layout and all
that really changed was the games that were featured in the
magazine so I could use that to my advantage. A strength would
be that I found out how to structure a magazine from my
research as well as take the layout that all magazines have and
incorporate it into mine. A weakness would be that it looked like
there was too much on the magazine and I feel like I wouldn’t of
gone well with my product.
Planning
 When planning for my magazine I gave a 12+ primary audience
and 18+ secondary audience. These gave me an idea on what
game I could talk about on my article and anything older than a
12+ rating game wouldn’t be able to be seen for my primary
audience. When creating the magazine I had to experiment to
know how to make a magazine and we made a fishing
magazine. I feel it went well as it gave idea on how to create a
magazine and I had also created a magazine in one of my other
tasks. I made another experiment of a recreation of another
gaming magazine and it went well because I found the photos
from the original magazine cover. In my pre-production I had a
bunch of games that I could choose from to do my magazine
about but I chose Super Smash Bros Ultimate for my game. I
also chose some fonts for the magazine. I chose 2 colours for
my colours scheme which were turquoise and purple as I would
have a light and a dark colour. They were also colours for my
main logo which I had a small idea of what it would look like but
ended up slightly different. A strength was that I got to improve
on how to create a better magazine as the first magazine I
created from my personal project it wasn’t great.
Time Management
 Overall my time management was really good as I got to
finish everything I had on my time schedule in time of that.
The time schedule made everything a lot easier as I knew
what I was doing straight away when I first got on the
computer. I don’t think I needed any extra time because as
soon as I did the pre-production I knew what I needed to do
like find photos or write my article on word and put it into my
double page spread. I didn’t need to find fonts as I already
had them as well as my colour scheme which saved my
some time.
Technical Qualities
I have
learned
how do do
more skills
in
Photoshop
such as
putting
part of a
photo over
something
in front of
it.
There is more activity on my
gaming magazine such as
more information on
different games.
I have a
really dark
purple that
doesn’t
really
contrast
with the
photo well.
Not much of the yellow to
contrast with the purple.
Aesthetic Qualities
I really like how I
have put some of
the characters
forward in front of
the text.
I really like the logo
that I made. It
looks better than
the first one I
made.
I like how I have
incorporated the 3
different fonts I chose
such as the
masthead is the main
font for the
magazine, the main
headline is the
secondary font and
the other parts of the
magazine is the 3rd
font.
Aesthetic Qualities
I like that
the new
characters
are all
bunched
up as it
looks nice.
I like the
use of the
font for the
article as it
is easy to
read.
I like that the gameplay
photos are in little boxes.
The colours go with the magazine
and the background doesn’t seem
as bad as I would've thought.
Audience Appeal
I have chosen
games that are
mainly for the
primary audience
such as Smash,
Sonic and Kingdom
Hearts.
My fonts are easy
for anyone to read
so they know what
the magazine is
going to have in it.
The colours will
appeal towards
the 12+ age
rating.
Audience Appeal
The 12+ age
range may
not want to
read so
much
information.
The
colours
would
appeal
towards
the 12+
age range.
The photos may give people a reason to read the article
as they may see the photos but not know why it is there.
Feedback 1
 What did you like about the product?
 I really like the look of the logo as it looks
cool. I also like the colour scheme of the
magazine. I also like how the photos go over
the text.
 What improvements could have been
made to the product?
 The magazine name font should be bigger
as Mario’s head covers most of it.
Feedback 2
 What did you like about the product?
 The logo looks really well made and goes with
the font of the magazine name which looks
good. I like the main headline name. Also the
colours look really nice together.
 What improvements could have been
made to the product?
 There is too much writing on the review of the
game. The heads of the characters cover to
much of the name of the magazine and the logo.
Feedback 3
 What did you like about the product?
 There is a nice background on both of the
main cover and article. I like the other news
in the other boxes as the characters look like
they are coming out of them.
 What improvements could have been
made to the product?
 The main problem I have with this is that
some of the characters cover the logo and
magazine name on the cover.
Peer Feedback Summary
 What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
 I agree that the characters on the magazine cover go over the
masthead a bit too much however I don’t think I could of fixed
this without changing the main layout of the magazine cover. I
also agree that the background on the magazine cover looks
good. I agree the font looks good with the logo as I based the
logo from the font. I also like the colour scheme as it has a nice
light colour and dark colour.
 What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
 I disagree that the background on the double page spread looks
good as I could of worked on it a bit more like using a gradient to
make it look nicer. I also feel I rushed the secondary leads and
could of made them look better. I disagree that I wrote too much
for my article as I feel that readers will get a history with the
franchise and then get up to date with the series as I talk about
the newest game.
Peer Feedback Summary
• I would change based on my feedback:
• The size of the font on for the masthead or find a better
picture to go on the cover.
• The background of the double page spread as it could
have had a better design on the pages.
• The article could be shorter but it all fit on the page so it
worked out in the end.
