Procedure
Led in:
Elicit names of shops and products students already know.
Give out worksheet (1) and ask students to label the pictures.
Speaking practice:
Students say what they can buy at different shops, how often they do it
Elicit what can be a present. Take out a bag and ask what it is.
Introduce the topic and aims
2. Students guess the topic of the lesson and the teacher introduces the aims.

Watching the video for specific information
Students watch the video. Check understanding: the multiple choice.

Ask students to look at the pictures and read the table. Explain/elicit the meaning of any
unknown vocabulary and the order of adjectives. Elicit the names of the objects (1-5). Read out
the example and check Ss understanding. Ss complete the task in pairs. Check Ss answers.

Ask various Ss around the class to describe personal belongings they have brought.
Pair-work
Divide Ss in pairs (game “Put adjectives in the correct order”)
Give them a dialogue to complete with the missing verbs. Check by reading in pairs.
Complete the dialogue. Use the verbs:
afford / borrow / buy / cost / lend / spend
Julian:What can I buy my sister for her birthday?
Darren:What about some perfume? There is a chemist’s across the road.
Julian: I can’t ____ perfume. It’s really expensive.
