Pilar II-Industrial Leadership-Access to risk finance (A2F)
Advantages:
 Provides loan finance to larger-scale demonstration projects and first-time industrial application
(translation of R&D into innovation)
 Support riskier but creditworthy RDI projects through risksharing between the EU, the European
Investment Bank.
 Demand-driven approach ("first comes, first served") is flexible and can respond to market demand.
 Complement HORIZON 2020 grant financing and can combined with other public and private
sources of funding including grants

Budget: 2.842M€.
Two instruments (in conjunction with COSME Programme)
 Equity/risk capital: e.g. venture capital to SMEs with high growth potential or risk capital to
infrastructure projects.
 Debt instrument also includes "RRisk-Sharing Finance Facility RSFF II“.Financing of demonstration
projects is possible

Target: Companies (SMEs, midcaps and large), research institutions, PPPs, stand-alone projects, etc
Technology-neutral . Engineering/ Industry 37%, Life Sciences/ Chemicals 29%, Energy 16%, ICT 14%, Research
