Project rationale / development challenge
Water supply and sanitation does not reach national standards:
(i) imbalanced and non-integrated drinking water supply and
distribution network due to dispersed water supply plants;
(ii) lack of capacity and outdated technology of existing water
supply plants; and
(iii) inadequate sewage treatment system to match the rapid
urbanization and industrialization.
Project’s intervention / outputs
The Project aims to upgrade urban and
rural water supply and sanitation
systems and optimize water
management system in Shengzhou
through construction of:
• water supply plants;
• sewage treatment plants;
• associated pipelines; and
• a smart water management center.

Project’s intervention / outputs The Project aims to upgrade urban and rural water supply and sanitation systems and optimize water management system in Shengzhou through construction of: • water supply plants; • sewage treatment plants; • associated pipelines; and • a smart water management center. 2
