Motivation
In industrial slurry pumping [1]:
• The speeds of the particles
can be up to 30 m/s
• The size of the particles can
vary from micrometers to
several centimeters
In the previous slurry-pot testers

• Rubber A is ’normal’ wear resistant styrene-butadiene
rubber with shore A hardness of 60
• Rubber B is slurry-erosion resistant natural rubber with
shore A hardness of 50
• Tested at 1750 rpm for 4x20 minutes with 8/10 mm granite
Conclusions
• New high speed slurry-pot tester enables testing
• With high speeds, up to 20 m/s
• With large particle sizes, up to 10 mm
• Of different materials with various sample profiles
• Of erosiveness of different abrasives

  1. INTRODUCTION Capture audience’s attention (Why is this relevant or important for them? What's in this for them?) Purpose: (What do you hope to accomplish?) Slurry-erosion wear limits machine lifetime and causes breakdowns in heavy industry, like pumping or rock drilling. In these applications the slurry-erosion environment is normally very rough for materials: high velocities and possibly large particle sizes. Still scientific studies have been mostly conducted by test equipment that employs small particle size and/or low velocities.

Therefore, another test method with sample rotation was developed. By rotating the samples evenly through all sample levels, the overall deviations between samples can be minimized. With the sample rotation method, up to eight materials can be tested simultaneously.

Large particles in contrast to earlier studies (<1 mm)In future work this equipment will be used to test slurry-erosion resistance of different types of materials in variable slurry conditions, including concentration, particle size, and abrasive type. Furthermore the equipment will be used for characterization of different minerals by their erosiveness.
