Over the summer of 2021 the first ever
‘Stratton Superstars’ will be held.
The event will raise funds for Cirencester-based
charities, including Stratton Youth Football Club,
Stratton Playgroup and Cirencester Housing for
Young People (CHYP).
We will also distribute up to 15% of the money received to food banks as
well as local grassroots sports teams for them to invest in continuing,
and enhancing, youngsters’ access to sports such as rugby, tennis and
hockey.
The series of activities comprises the following events and timings:
April: Marathon – Aim to achieve 26.2 miles over the course of the month - the goal
is more about completing it than the time taken!
· May: Cycling – Cycle 200km throughout May
· June: Zumba with Meryl Miller
· July: Fitness Boot Camp with Ollie Wakefield from Your Fitness Community
· September: Running – run up to 26.2 miles on Saturday 4th September
After the final event there will be some festivities at Baunton Lane Playing Fields
that will start once the running is completed. In the evening we will have a charity
ball where we will re-live some of the highs (and maybe lows!) of the Superstars in
action, partying the night away while raising as much as we can in the last few
hours of the event.
How can you participate?
All the main events will be held in Cirencester. People can choose to do as many
activities that they wish to do and can either join in with the main group or
complete them individually. On the final day we will have a shorter route for
those aged under 18 so they can join in with the last few miles of the run before
our finish at Baunton Lane Playing Fields.
Who are we raising money for?
The money will be split as follows:
· Stratton Youth FC: 40% of all money raised
· Stratton Playgroup: 20% of all money raised
· Cirencester Housing for Young People (CHYP): 20% of money raised
· Stratton School: 5% of all money raised
The remaining 15% will be split between local food banks and other (non-football)
grassroots sports clubs. However, people can decide to raise money for their own
charities if they wish.
