4. ABSTRACT
Wastewater treatment is the means by which water that has been used and/or
contaminated by humans or nature is restored to a desirable quality. Treatment
may consist of chemical, biological, or physical processes or a combination of
there. Water may be treated to any level of quality desired; however, as its purity
increases, so does the cost of attaining that purity. The required quality of water
is dictated by its intended use, for example, aquatic life, drinking water, or
irrigation. The purpose of this chapter is to describe wastewater treatment
technologies predominantly in use today. Ultimately, the technology selected as
appropriate for one application may not be the optimal for another. Selection will
be based on site-specific factors, such as resources available, climate, land
availability, economics, etc.
5. INTRODUCTION ABOUT THE MINI PROJECT:
The construction vision is not only limited to develop project but should
also be environment friendly.
Wastewater treatment is a process used to
remove contaminants from wastewater and convert it into an effluent that can be
returned to the water cycle. Once returned to the water cycle, the effluent creates
an acceptable impact on the environment or is reused for various purposes . the
treatment process takes place in a wastewater treatment plant. There are several
kinds of wastewater which are treated at the appropriate type of wastewater
treatment plant. For domestic wastewater (also called municipal wastewater
or sewage), the treatment plant is called a sewage treatment plant. For industrial
wastewater, treatment either takes place in a separate industrial wastewater
treatment plant, or in a sewage treatment plant (usually after some form of pre-
treatment). Further types of wastewater treatment plants include agricultural

1. To improve quality of wastewater
2. Elimination of pollutants, toxicants and many impurities
3. Preservation of water quality of natural water resources
4. To make wastewater usable for other purposes
5. Prevention of harmful diseases

• Till now we are at starting stage of our project i.e, we
just visited the site

• FROM TIS WEEK WE WILL GO THROUGH HWITH THE PROCESSES INVOLVED IN THE
TREATMENT OF WASTEWATER
9. ACTION PLAN FOR COMPLETION OF PROJECT
• In the upcoming four weeks we will complete the study
of processes involved in treatment of wastewater
• There are seven processes involved in the treatment of
waste water
So we will learn two processes in each week and
finally in fourth week we will learn how to treat the
wastewater
