b) Work creatively on making actions based on characters in the poem.

Set induction
(10 minutes) Some possible questions that will be ask:
 What do you usually do during the holidays?
 What kind of games do you play during
holidays?
 What kind of hobbies you do during the
holidays?
1. Teacher asks pupils about their
holidays activities.
2. Teachers his stories about his
holidays activities.
3. Teacher gives introduction on
holidays activities.
Presentation
(20 minutes) Difficult words for the pupils:
1. journeyed
2. swam
3. chatted
4. seagull
5. moonbeam
6. gossiped
7. Mars
8. drove
9. rode
10. fought
11. grappled
1. A teacher asks the pupils to open
their anthology book.
2. Teacher asks the pupils to look at
the first stanza of the poem.
3. Teacher asks pupils to find the
difficult words in the stanza and
teacher explained the words to the
pupils
4. Teacher asks the pupils to read
aloud the stanza, and then teacher
will explain the stanza.
5. Teacher repeat these steps with
the other stanza

(25 minutes) 1. Matching pairs activity. 1. Teacher distributes worksheet to the
pupils.
2. Teacher monitors and gives guidance
to the pupils while they are doing their
worksheet.
3. Teacher discusses and explains the
answers with the pupils.

Reciting poems while pupils play roles as
characters in the poem
1. teacher divides the pupils into
groups of four
2. teacher gives a stanza of the poem
to each group
3. Each groups need to recite the
poem and play the character in the
stanza.
4. Teacher gives 10 minutes to every

6. Every group have to perform in
front of the class.

KSSR year 4 lesson plan language art holiday memories

English Year 4 Lesson Plan Date : 17 July 2017 Subject : English Language Class : 4 Arif Day : Thursday Time : 11.45am – 1.15pm Enrolment : 29 students Level : Moderate Language Proficiency Theme : World of Knowledge Topic : Holiday Memories Focused skill : Language Arts Integrated skill : Reading, Listening & speaking
  • 2. ‘ Learning standards : 4.2.1 Able to respond to literary texts: (a) characters Learning objectives : By the end of the lesson, students will be able to a) Express personal response to literary texts. b) Work creatively on making actions based on characters in the poem. Educational emphases : CCTS - answering Wh-Questions Moral values - spend the holidays by doing beneficial activities - work together as a team to achieve goals. Multiple intelligences - Interpersonal intelligence, linguistic intelligence Language content : Vocabulary - Description of different characters in poem. Steps/ Time Content Teaching and Learning Strategies Remarks Set induction (10 minutes) Some possible questions that will be ask:  What do you usually do during the holidays?  What kind of games do you play during holidays?  What kind of hobbies you do during the holidays? 1. Teacher asks pupils about their holidays activities. 2. Teachers his stories about his holidays activities. 3. Teacher gives introduction on holidays activities.
  • 3. Presentation (20 minutes) Difficult words for the pupils: 1. journeyed 2. swam 3. chatted 4. seagull 5. moonbeam 6. gossiped 7. Mars 8. drove 9. rode 10. fought 11. grappled 1. A teacher asks the pupils to open their anthology book. 2. Teacher asks the pupils to look at the first stanza of the poem. 3. Teacher asks pupils to find the difficult words in the stanza and teacher explained the words to the pupils 4. Teacher asks the pupils to read aloud the stanza, and then teacher will explain the stanza. 5. Teacher repeat these steps with the other stanza Materials: 1. Anthology book 2. Picture cards 3. Word cards. Refer to the Anthology book page 6. Refer to Appendix A Practice (25 minutes) 1. Matching pairs activity. 1. Teacher distributes worksheet to the pupils. 2. Teacher monitors and gives guidance to the pupils while they are doing their worksheet. 3. Teacher discusses and explains the answers with the pupils. Material: 1. Worksheet Refer to Appendix B Production (25 minutes) Reciting poems while pupils play roles as characters in the poem 1. teacher divides the pupils into groups of four 2. teacher gives a stanza of the poem to each group 3. Each groups need to recite the poem and play the character in the stanza. 4. Teacher gives 10 minutes to every Material: 1. Anthology book 2. masks Shown in Appendix C
