This document describes a student project to automate room lighting and appliances using an IoT system with a Raspberry Pi. The project aims to control lights and a fan with a mobile phone app via Bluetooth. It details the equipment used, including a Raspberry Pi, relay module, wires, SD card, phone and appliances. Steps are provided for setting up the Raspberry Pi, connecting the circuit, writing code, installing an app, pairing Bluetooth and operating devices remotely with the mobile phone. Problems faced involved pairing and connecting Bluetooth and a relay module issue. The conclusion discusses how IoT is being implemented and alternatives like Wi-Fi control.
5. STEPS INVOLVED
Install noobs or raspbian software and extract those
zip files.
Copy all those files and paste it into a formatted SD
card.
Insert the SD card into SD card slot of Raspberry Pi.
Power on the Raspberry Pi and connect it to Wi-Fi.
Make the initial steps of installation of Raspberry Pi
into your laptop/monitor.
6. STEPS INVOLVED
Make connections as per the circuit diagram.
Now, open python IDLE and write the code for the
above connections.

7. STEPS INVOLVED
Download RoboRemo app in your android phone and
make buttons and set the press action of the buttons
according to the code.
Switch on the Bluetooth in your android phone and
make discoverable the Bluetooth of Raspberry Pi.
Run the code in the terminal of Raspberry Pi .
And operate the buttons in your phone by switching
them on/off.
8. PROBLEMS FACED
The biggest problem I faced during the experiment is
connecting Bluetooth of Raspberry Pi and android
phone. It’s getting paired but not getting connected.
Later it got connected.
The second problem I faced is during the use of 2
channel relay module. Only one got worked properly
due to my mistake of shorting both JD-VCC and VCC.
9. CONCLUSION
The Internet of Things is closer to being implemented
than the average person would think.
In this project we used Bluetooth protocol for our
automation we can also use internet (Wi-Fi) for our
home automation.
