The GRPSEO exists to empower
Onkwehon:we through higher education,
within available resources.
 Assist with the GRPSEO application process
 Monitor student success with semester
contacts, grade review and verify eligibility
 Provide referrals where/when necessary
 Provide limited help with other application
processes such as OSAP, OCAS and OUAC
 Promote post secondary awareness with
elementary and secondary aged students
 Six Nations Members
 Persons who are enrolled in or accepted for
enrolment in an eligible post secondary
program
 At least two academic years in length
 Offered by a recognized post secondary institution
 Secondary school completion as an entrance
requirement to the program
PLEASE NOTE: Preparatory programs (or
courses) are not eligible unless they provide full
credit towards a diploma or degree
 Level 1 - College Diploma
 Level 2 - University Undergraduate Degree
(Including B.Ed., Law Degree)
 Level 3 - Graduate University Degree
 Level 4 - Post Graduate Degree
 Tuition Assistance
(estimated)
 College: $4,800
 University: $7,900
 Books
 Full-time students:
$400/semester
 Part-time students: $80/course
 Education Allowance
 Full-time students only:
$800/month (or can use toward
Residence fees)
 Mandatory Program Fees
 Maximum $1,000/year for all
students
 Funding is limited to completion of one level
of assistance (e.g. College diploma or
undergraduate degree)
 Tuition assistance is calculated at the
Canadian public institution rate
 Funds are issued in Canadian Currency
 Not all private institutions/programs are
eligible for educational assistance

 GRPSEO’s policy
states that all
student files are
confidential

Party Access(TPA)

to share your
information with a
parent.
May 1st Deadline to Confirm Offers of
Admission
 Applicants must confirm their acceptance
of an offer of admission by this date
 Colleges may extend offers of admission
after this date.
 Check your e-mails frequently.
May 29th
 The latest date by which all secondary
school applicants shall expect a response
from an Ontario university. Such a
response will be one of the following:
1) an offer of admission;
2) a refusal; or
3) a deferral pending the receipt of specific
additional information
 Make sure you pay attention to the
institution’s deposit deadline.
 This deadline will be communicated to you
by the institution.
 Your Required Documentation Check List sent
to you by your Funding Advisor will identify what
specific items are required by the August 1st
date, such as your final official high school
transcript.
 Review your check list thoroughly and keep in
mind that an approved application can still be
cancelled if the specified August 1 documents
asked for, are not received by this date.
 Best to send in needed documents as soon as
you have them to avoid loss of funding.
 Funding is limited
 Costs continue to increase
 More & more students have to cover part
of their education costs
 Save what you can!
 Apply for other sources of
funding such as….
Scholarships
A gift of money given to a student most
often based on academic achievements
Possible sources: schools, companies,
charities, governments and private
individuals
Entrance scholarships
Most often an application is required
Bursaries
A gift of money given to a student who
demonstrates a genuine financial need

Marks are not often prime consideration
 Scholarships and bursaries do NOT
jeopardize your GRPSEO funding.

 You schedule this session with your GRPSEO
Funding Advisor after approval of funding.
 Meeting in person is preferred.
 Your Parent(s)/Guardian(s) are welcome to
attend.
 Review your education plan.
 Review the rules and guidelines for funding.

to submit their grades
after each semester
 Poor academic
performance can affect:

  • 2. The GRPSEO exists to empower Onkwehon:we through higher education, within available resources.
  • 3.  Assist with the GRPSEO application process  Monitor student success with semester contacts, grade review and verify eligibility  Provide referrals where/when necessary  Provide limited help with other application processes such as OSAP, OCAS and OUAC  Promote post secondary awareness with elementary and secondary aged students
  • 4.  Six Nations Members  Persons who are enrolled in or accepted for enrolment in an eligible post secondary program
  • 5.  At least two academic years in length  Offered by a recognized post secondary institution  Secondary school completion as an entrance requirement to the program PLEASE NOTE: Preparatory programs (or courses) are not eligible unless they provide full credit towards a diploma or degree
  • 6.  Level 1 - College Diploma  Level 2 - University Undergraduate Degree (Including B.Ed., Law Degree)  Level 3 - Graduate University Degree  Level 4 - Post Graduate Degree
  • 7.  Tuition Assistance (estimated)  College: $4,800  University: $7,900  Books  Full-time students: $400/semester  Part-time students: $80/course  Education Allowance  Full-time students only: $800/month (or can use toward Residence fees)  Mandatory Program Fees  Maximum $1,000/year for all students
  • 8.  Funding is limited to completion of one level of assistance (e.g. College diploma or undergraduate degree)  Tuition assistance is calculated at the Canadian public institution rate  Funds are issued in Canadian Currency  Not all private institutions/programs are eligible for educational assistance
  • 9.  Priority 1 - Returning or Continuing Successful Students  Priority 1 b – Continuing successful self- funded students  Priority 2 - New High School Graduates  Priority 3 - Withdrawals for just cause (emergency cases)  Priority 4 (a) – Part time successful students applying for full time assistance
  • 10.  Priority 4 (b) - Out of school for two or more consecutive academic semesters  Priority 5 – Previous graduates who change program but are not changing their level of study  Priority 6 – Students from other countries *see Residency 2 to follow  Priority 7 - Unsuccessful students

  • 13.  You will be mailed/e-mailed a “Check List of Required Documentation”  Read the information requested – If you have questions, contact your GRPSEO Funding Advisor.  If documents are not received your application may not be processed further.  Review the rules and guidelines for funding.
  • 14.  Please check your e-mails. Make sure they are ACCURATE! Both GRPSEO and your institution will be sending you relevant information.  Make note of any deadlines.  If you are not sure – call our office!
  • 15.  GRPSEO’s policy states that all student files are confidential  Completed Third Party Access(TPA) consent form required to allow us to share your information with a parent.

  • 17. May 1st Deadline to Confirm Offers of Admission  Applicants must confirm their acceptance of an offer of admission by this date  Colleges may extend offers of admission after this date.  Check your e-mails frequently.
  • 18. May 29th  The latest date by which all secondary school applicants shall expect a response from an Ontario university. Such a response will be one of the following: 1) an offer of admission; 2) a refusal; or 3) a deferral pending the receipt of specific additional information
  • 19.  Make sure you pay attention to the institution’s deposit deadline.  This deadline will be communicated to you by the institution.
  • 20.  Your Required Documentation Check List sent to you by your Funding Advisor will identify what specific items are required by the August 1st date, such as your final official high school transcript.  Review your check list thoroughly and keep in mind that an approved application can still be cancelled if the specified August 1 documents asked for, are not received by this date.  Best to send in needed documents as soon as you have them to avoid loss of funding.
  • 21.  Funding is limited  Costs continue to increase  More & more students have to cover part of their education costs  Save what you can!  Apply for other sources of funding such as….
  • 22. Scholarships A gift of money given to a student most often based on academic achievements Possible sources: schools, companies, charities, governments and private individuals Entrance scholarships Most often an application is required
  • 23. Bursaries A gift of money given to a student who demonstrates a genuine financial need Application is required Marks are not often prime consideration
  • 24.  Scholarships and bursaries do NOT jeopardize your GRPSEO funding.  Less stress over finances.  Recognition for your hard work.  Role model to your community.
  • 25.  You schedule this session with your GRPSEO Funding Advisor after approval of funding.  Meeting in person is preferred.  Your Parent(s)/Guardian(s) are welcome to attend.  Review your education plan.  Review the rules and guidelines for funding.  Have your questions answered about funding.
  • 26.  Students are required to submit their grades after each semester  Poor academic performance can affect:  Priority  Overpayment  Academic dismissal Other factors that may have an affect: Working Extracurricular activities (e.g. sports, clubs)

  • 29. YOU ARE REQUIRED TO APPY ON-LINE  February 1st-Application deadline for summer semester  May 1st - Application deadline for Fall or Fall/Winter semester(s)  October 1st - Application deadline for Winter semester starting January
