3. What does a care label
convey?
A proper informative care label is one that uses symbols specified
by the HCCL ( Home Laundry consultative council)
in accordance with GINETEX.
The care label should :
• Give full instructions for at least one satisfactory method of
cleaning with a specified method representing the most severe
process the garment can withstand whilst maintaining its
original condition.
• Warn about any part of the recommended method that a
cleaner could reasonably be expected to use that would harm
the garment or harm other garments being cleaned with it,

• The care labels should not be visible from the outside and should not be inconvenient
to the wearer
• The symbols and letters on the labels shall be legible throughout the useful life of the
garment
• All the symbols used in the care labeling system should be placed directly on the
article or on a label that shall be affixed permanently to the article.
• Care labels should be made of a suitable material with resistance to the care
treatment indicated in the label at least equal to that of the article on which they are
placed.
• The care instruction symbols are applied to the whole of the garment including
trimmings, zippers, linings buttons, embroidery, or decorative embellishment.

6. Ironing
The Wash process symbol represents the water temperature
suitable for the garment and also the method of washing.

7. Dry cleaning
Some textiles can be dry cleaned in all kinds of solvents whereas
some can only withstand Perchlorethyene, white solvent, etc, for
which the dry cleaning symbol is used.
8. Bleaching
Some textiles can be bleached in all kinds of bleaches whereas
some can only withstand Non-Chlorine bleaches, while some can completely
get damaged if comes in contact t with bleach for which the bleaching
symbol is used.
