1. Determining the critical path method in making
of Chicken Cheese Burger in McDonald's

2. McDonald’s is a global retail burger outlet which provides various
kinds of burgers and other snacks to their customers. They
usually provide their orders at a relatively small amount of time
compared to the huge quantity of orders they receive. It is for
this reason that they have been able to expand and have more
than 31,000 outlets in 119 countries of the world. We are trying
to find out how they optimize their time to provide the service
on time and satisfy their customers.
Introduction
3. Process of Making a Chicken Cheese Burger in McDonald’s
A. Preparing Bread in the toaster
B. Cutting the vegetables
C. Meat defreeze for preparation of patty
D. Frying the patty to place it inside the burger
E. Placing the patty inside the burger
F. Adding the cheese slice along with mayonnaise
G. Adding one squirt of mustard sauce and one squirt of ketchup
H. Adding onions, lettuce and tomatoes for dressing the burger
I. Adding extra mayonnaise
J. Wrapping the burger
4. Objective of the project:
The objective of the project is to find out the critical path of making of chicken burger
to find out the least amount of time to be taken in completing the project.
We are also using travelling salesman to minimize the distance and time taken to
deliver the product to the customers.
Research and Methodology
Source of Data: The data used for this project is primary data. The data has been
collected by talking with a staff of McDonald’s.
Methods used:
(1) CPM- We have used critical path method (CPM) in this project to find the
important deadlines and deliver in this project on time. The critical path is the
longest distance between the start and the finish, including all the tasks and their
duration.
(2) Travelling Salesman- We have used travelling salesman to find out the path to
minimize the time taken to deliver the burgers to the customers and back to the store.

8. TRAVELLING SALESMAN
The Travelling Salesman Problem (TSP) is the challenge of finding the shortest
yet most efficient route for a person to take given a list of specific
destinations. Here the person must travel to each of the destinations once and
then get back to the original position.

10. Limitations and Conclusions
Limitations:
1. Due to lack of cost related data we could not crash the CPM Model in this data to find out the optimal
level of cost to which the path could be crashed.
2. For the travelling salesman part we used google maps to find out the time taken to deliver to the various
points in the city of Kolkata.
3. We have considered only one travelling salesman for the project so that we can optimize the route for it.
Conclusions:
4. We found out the critical path of making a chicken cheese burger through which we can get a fair idea of
the longest distance taken in the process. Through this can find out a way to optimize the process more
so as to both save them time and money.
5. From the travelling salesman part we found out the correct route to be followed so as to minimize the
delivery time and reach back to the outlet. Through this they can deliver more products in the same
timeframe than they used to do previously.
