BW – welcome… thrilled to be here today to talk about something that we know keeps a lot of retailers and brands up at night … how to meet the expectations of global shoppers.
I am Bernardine Wu, founder /ceo of FFC…… I am excited today to share the stage with some 2 brands that are winning globally and a company that is helping retailer brands all over the world grow globally.
Cynthia Hollen is the US president of eshopworld – a company that helps market, sell and deliver products for some of Americas favorite brands to over 200 countries. Cynthia was founder and CEO of Knowledge Strategies Group and was responsible for the eCommerce launch of brands from Bloomingdale's to E Zegna. She also led the world’s largest online luxury marketplace.
Janelle Spatz is Director of Operations for Calvin Klein. She has worked with the company for more than a decade, holding positions in both planning and operations, and was key in helping to launch its ecommerce sites in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Australia.
Jane Lu is founder/ceo Showpo – she launched Showpo out of her parents’ garage in 2010. Today Showpo a $60 million business, with 30% of its customer base in the US. Jane has been named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia list, #6 in Business Insider’s Coolest 100 People in Australian Tech list, and the company was awarded Australia’s Online Retailer of the Year.
Before we get started let’s do a quick show of hands – how many of you sell globally?
For those of you who raised your hands – you are on to something. Overall approx 14% of traffic on US shopping sites comes from global shoppers. Brand manufacturers are particularly seeing a lot of international traffic. This clearly signals an opportunity for growth – but going global is not easy… many factors to consider and navigate including shipping and returns, tariffs, customer experience and so much more. These are all things that Cynthia, Janelle and Jane will cover in the next 20 minute lightning round on how to win in new global markets.
