• 1961, republic country Rwanda, consisted of two
main group, the Hutu and the Tutsi
• Hutus were 85% of the population and
dominated the government
• Tutsi minority tired of the Hutus harassment
moved to Uganda and created rebel army known
as Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF)
• Civil War killed up to 800,000 Tutsi men, women,
and children and many Hutus.
• August 1993, RPF and Hutu rebels signed peace
agreement.
3. • Canada was the leader of the United Nations
• Canadian L.T Gen Romeo Dallaire was the
leader of the U.N peacekeepers.
• Romeo Dallaire was in Rwanda during the
Genocide and was requesting for more U.N
assistance but he was rejected.
• Many lives were lost including 15 Canadian
U.N peacekeepers under the command of
Romeo Dallaire.

even though its none of our business?
