Fon is the world's largest WiFi network started in 2006 with over 12 million WiFi access points globally. It allows users to share their home WiFi network with other Fon users in exchange for access to the entire Fon network when traveling. Fon generates revenue through selling hardware to partners, advertising, and fees paid by telecom companies to offload mobile data traffic onto the WiFi network. The company aims to have over 50 million WiFi access points and serve over 100 million users regularly within 5 years.
