variety of methods or tools that educators use to
evaluate, measure, and document the academic
willingness, learning progress, skills, achievements, or
educational needs of students.

• Test should be:
• Reliable
• Valid
• Beneficial for all students
• Simple to operate should not costly
• Formative and summative assessment should be included
• Timely feedback that promotes learning and facilitates improvement should be an
integral part of the assessment

• Use it to improve the focus of teaching.
• Use it to focus student attention of strengths and weaknesses
• Use it to improve program planning (program assessment).
• Use it for reporting to parents.

• Classroom assessment:
 Asking question
 Listening to student discussion
• Performance assessment:
 Product : drawing, science experiment, term papers
 Behavior : time trial for running a mile , reciting a poem, dancing

• Portfolio:
 It measure student growth over a long
period of time
 It can include formative and summative
assessment, it may contain written work,
chart, survey, essays , art, graphs,
standardized test score, test. each item
may have a reflection from the student

Assessment techniques are evaluation methods that
serve two purposes. They can help you to assess the
degree to which your students understand the course
content and they can provide you with information
about effectiveness of your teaching methods
