52. Smart NFC Readers
Smooth, Fast and Frictionless is the central feature of NFC
→ Smart readers often required to achieve this
UID-based systems don’t fully leverage the power of NFC
→ Completely dependent on strong connectivity
→ See http://tapintonfc.org/2015/04/nfc-is-more-than-just-a-wireless-barcode/
The entire tag interaction should take no more than a ½ sec:
→ Reading,writing and updating tag
→ For secure tags, authentication
→ Example: Cashless payments, transit fares, access control.

Generic NFC Reader
Hosting PC software must handle:
● Tag detection and enumeration
● Basic level NFC commands
● NDEF/Data parsing
● Authentication
● Encryption/decryption
For USB readers, the connection is fast enough such that there is
minimal latency, but the host software must be very NFC intensive

Tablet app also must handle:
● Tag detection and enumeration
● Basic level NFC commands
● NDEF/Data parsing
● Authentication
● Encryption/decryption
App must be very NFC intensive
Latency between the app and the reader can slow down scanning
Headphone jack readers power
down frequently to conserve battery.
This is the main cause of latency.

Where can you use Couchbase
Where is this available? So if you are developing outside of Android, it is across all the available platforms. We just released our Unity support and you can build it from source too cause the entire solution is open sourced.
For cross platform development environments we support PhoneGap, Xamarin, as well there is a community supported appelerator plugin called Titanium as well. [Click]
To get a hold of it today, it is as easy as going to Cocoapods and add Couchbase Lite if you an iOS developer [Click]
Going to Maven Central if you are a Java Developer [Click]
Nuget if you are a .NET developer [Click]
Or Github to get the source to check it out or do a custom build. Or make changes [Click]
