William Conable enjoys worldwide renown as a teacher of the
Alexander Technique, a method for improving freedom and ease of
movement and physical coordination which is of special interest to
musicians and other performing artists. He is Emeritus Professor of
Music at the Ohio State University, and has appeared as cello
soloist with the Columbus, Youngstown, Springfield, Knox County,
and Welsh Hills Symphonies. For eleven years he was Principal
Cellist of the Columbus Symphony, and has served in the same
position for the Youngstown and Springfield Symphonies and the
Dayton Opera. William Conable received his doctorate from Boston                      Duke graduate student composer
University.                                                                           David Kirkland Garner won First
                                                                                      Prize in The National Association
                                                                                      of Composers, USA 2011 Young
                                                                                      Composers Competition for
                                                                                      Miracles... Not Math, for string
                                                                                      bass and harp.


                                                                                      Rodney Wynkoop, Director of
                                                                                      the Duke Chorale and Professor
                                                                                      of the Practice of Music, was
                                                                                      featured in the Durham News in a
                                                                                      piece that focused on his work
                                                                                      with the Choral Society of
                                                                                      Durham, which he has directed
                                                                                      for 25 years. Dr. Wynkoop has
                                                                                      just returned for a tour to Greece
                                                                                      and Turkey with the Duke Chapel
                                                                                      Choir, which he also leads as
                                                                                      director of Chapel Music at Duke.

Percussion/Composition Master Class with the
Meehan/Perkins Percussion Duo

Since its founding in 2006, the Meehan/ Perkins Duo (Todd
Meehan and Doug Perkins) has redefined the American percussion
duo through its diverse commissions and engaging performances.
The Duo has been called "superb young players" by the New
Yorker and "gifted percussionists" by the Wall Street Journal.
Dedicated to creating a new body of work for the percussion duo
genre, to date the Duo has collaborated with composers David
Lang, Paul Lansky, Nathan Davis, John Supko, and Matt McBane
to expand the repertoire and produce eclectic new acoustic and

Expert percussionists Todd Meehan and Doug Perkins offer a

fellow Daniel Thomas Davis and faculty composers Stephen
Jaffe, Anthony Kelley, Scott Lindroth and John Supko.

Faculty Recital: Elizabeth Byrum Linnartz, soprano & David
Heid, piano
If Music Be the Food of Love: works by Purcell, Schubert,
Rossini and spirituals arranged by African-American women
composers.

Elizabeth Byrum Linnartz, lyric soprano, is a Lecturing Fellow in the
Department of Music at Duke University. She teaches voice,
diction, opera and chamber ensemble at Duke and professional
and professional-track voice students in her large private studio.
She taught voice at UNC-Chapel Hill, UNC-G and Columbia
International University, as well as teaching church music at Institut
Injil Indonesia in Batu, East Java, before coming to teach full time
at Duke.

David Heid comes to North Carolina after a successful career in
New York City as a vocal coach/accompanist. He is currently a staff
accompanist and teaches piano at Duke University as well as being
in demand throughout the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area as a
collaborative artist. He has worked with many of the area’s leading
organizations, including the Durham Choral Society, The Chamber
Orchestra of the Triangle, The Fletcher Foundation, Opera
Company of North Carolina, Theater in the Park, Thompson
Theater Summerfest and Long Leaf Opera.

The Duo has been called "superb young players" by the New Yorker and "gifted percussionists" by the Wall Street Journal. Elizabeth Byrum Linnartz, lyric soprano, is a Lecturing Fellow in the Department of Music at Duke University. She teaches voice, diction, opera and chamber ensemble at Duke and professional and professional-track voice students in her large private studio. She taught voice at UNC-Chapel Hill, UNC-G and Columbia International University, as well as teaching church music at Institut Injil Indonesia in Batu, East Java, before coming to teach full time at Duke. David Heid comes to North Carolina after a successful career in New York City as a vocal coach/accompanist. He is currently a staff accompanist and teaches piano at Duke University as well as being in demand throughout the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area as a collaborative artist.
