This document discusses social, mobile, analytics, and cloud (SMAC) technologies and how they are transforming businesses. It notes that each of these four areas - social, mobile, analytics, and cloud - have grown individually in recent years and are now being treated together as an integrated model. This new SMAC model allows for more connectivity, collaboration, and productivity across organizations. The document also outlines trends in each area, like how social technologies enhance collaboration, mobile technologies enable ubiquitous access, analytics optimize processes, and cloud provides scalability and cuts costs. Finally, it expresses interest in gaining deeper knowledge of cloud and mobile technologies to develop new efficient cloud data storage solutions and mobile business applications.

2. Introduction
SMAC is also known as Social, Mobile,
Analytics, Cloud and many call it as fifth era
of corporate IT.
The key changes over time throughout all the
evolution has been the exponentially
increasing processing power of computers.
Social, Mobile, Analytics and Cloud are
individual technologies and platforms which
have risen during the past few years and
have shown immense growth.
While each of these four components have
been evolving individually companies are
beginning to treat them as an integrated
whole.
3. Introduction(continued)
This is a new enterprise IT model delivering an organization that is more
Connective, Collaborative, Real-time and Productive.
Because of SMAC we are moving into new “Digital Industrial Revolution”.
The IT department of future will need to address these market forces by
leveraging an array of emerging and disruptive technologies, including SMAC
architecture to support their business opportunities in the most efficient manner.
Now-a-days customers and employees are looking for anytime anywhere and
any device convenience that they are familiar like Facebook.
4. Trends
Social technologies allow for the rapid sharing and creation of knowledge over social networks, which
enhances collaboration and information distribution across a business.
Mobile technologies are continuing to evolve, reshaping the technology landscape. The growth in
smart devices is bringing about an era of ubiquitous connectivity. Users are now able to access
information anywhere at anytime with ease.
Analytics enhance supply chains, facilitate closed-loop marketing, and optimize existing customer
relationship management processes.
Cloud technology is the linchpin of the SMAC stack – and it is quickly becoming the new foundation of
the IT ecosystem. Cloud computing lends businesses a newfound agility, breaking down the barriers of
geography and cutting the costs associated with physical server maintenance
5. Trends (continued)
With limitless scalability, the cloud powers the transformative combination of social, mobile, and analytic
technologies.
Technology in Perspective Today’s SMAC Stack—‘the fifth wave’ of IT architecture—is happening faster than
anything that’s come before.
By 2020, as many as 100 billion computing devices will be connected to the Web and corporations will be
managing 50 times the data they do currently.
So SMAC will have a multiplying effect on businesses and increase productivity across the organization.
6. Interest Areas
I would like to get deeper knowledge of Cloud Computing and
Mobile technologies.
Coming to cloud I am interested in developing the new technology
of cloud which uses less computing resources to manage data
storage which will have an edge on the present technology.
I would like to develop mobile products for business applications.
